Full details to come on Nov. 172027 triumph street triple 798 previewTriumph began its 2027 model year push this week with the announcement of the new Bonneville T40 and Bonneville T40 Black. The new lightweight Bonnie didn't come alone, however, as Triumph also offered a sneak peak at three more models, the 2027 Tiger 1200, Tiger 900, and the Street Triple 798. We'll go into more detail about the two Tigers separately, but for now, here's what we know about the new 2027 Triumph Street Triple 798.Triumph Announces New Moto2 Engine For 20272026 Triumph Street Triple 765 RX and Moto2 – First LookFull details will be released on November 17, but Triumph did release a few images of the new Street Triple, albeit all are from the right side. Juxtaposing the new model with the current version, it's clear that Triumph has changed quite a bit, while still retaining enough elements to connect it to previous designs. The previous twin-spar frame had a segment splinter off to an engine mounting point behind the cylinder head. That mounting point remains on the new frame, but there's now a second segment arching up toward the fuel tank before rejoining the rest of the frame behind the steering head. The rear subframe appears to connect to the main frame at the top of this arch and at the typical spot at the top of the side pivot plates. The seat appears to be at a similar height as the current model, but the new tail is significantly shorter, with more of an upward tilt.Up front, the headlights retain a similar shape as the previous version, but the LED position lights now go most of the way around the headlight instead of the "angry eyebrows" look of the current model.2027 triumph street triple 798 previewThe fork doesn't look too different from the current model's Showa Big Piston Fork, but the triple clamps appear to sit lower relative to the frame. The front brakes also look similar to the current Street Triple's Brembo Stylema four-piston radial monoblock calipers. The swingarm is a completely new design, no longer having the current model's boomerang shape. We can't see enough of the rear monoshock to compare it to the existing suspension, but it is now positioned closer to the rear wheel.2027 triumph street triple 798 previewThe next generation Street Triple will be powered by an inline-Triple, presumably displacing 798cc. And while that happens to be the same configuration and displacement as the engine in Triumph's Trident 800, it will actually be a brand new engine developed for the Moto2 World Championship. While there will be some differences between the production and race engines,Triumph says the new Moto2 engine will produce 6% more power than the current engine.Along with the bump in displacement, the Moto2 engine has a new cylinder head with a "completely redesigned low-inertia valvetrain and higher flow ports and a new combustion chamber design all to help produce a higher compression ratio with more torque throughout the rev range." Triumph claims the new engine weighs 4.4 pounds heavier than the previous race engine. Of course, it remains to be seen whether that applies to the Street Triple engine as well.2027 triumph street triple 798 previewThe exhaust system looks completely new, with new header pipes and a significantly shorter silencer that sits below the rearset footpegs. So far, Triumph has only released images of the RS version of the Street Triple 798. We expect there will be an RX and a Moto2 version as well, though it's unclear if we'll see an R model. Triumph dropped the Street Triple R when it debuted the Trident 800, and from a business perspective, the only way a new R model makes sense is if Triumph can create enough separation in terms of pricing and performance.2027 triumph street triple 798 previewWe'll know for sure when Triumph officially releases full details of the 2027 Street Triple 798 on Nov. 17.Become a Motorcycle.com insider.
