Lexus vehicles are regarded as among the best luxury vehicles, in the same league as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Genesis. The brand’s first vehicle, the LS 400, was launched in 1989. Seven years later, Lexus launched its first SUV, the LX 450, but this vehicle wasn’t the SUV that made Lexus so popular. Two years later, Lexus finally launched the RX 300. It pioneered the luxury crossover segment and forced other companies into making major changes to their own offerings with its staggering success.Since then, Lexus SUVs have evolved into seven of the most luxury-focused vehicles in their segments. Compared with offerings from Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, Lexus SUVs have not really been known for their power and performance, but that doesn’t mean they don’t pull out all the stops when necessary. Lexus UX 196 hp (Smallest, Most Efficient) Lexus 2026 Lexus UX 300h SpecsWith the Lexus LBX only available in parts of Europe and Japan, the UX is the smallest available Lexus SUV in the United States. This subcompact SUV runs on a hybrid setup that combines a 150-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to produce 196 horsepower combined. This vehicle is designed to be fuel-efficient. It is offered in both an all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive system, which produce combined ratings of 42 MPG and 43 MPG, respectively. This hybrid system is not designed to produce sporty driving like its spirited luxury competitors. It’s only capable of 0–60 mph times of between 7.9 and 8.0 seconds and has a top speed of 110 mph. Although the all-wheel drive version has an extra electric motor on its rear axle, the net power output produced by the hybrid system is the same. This model is easy to use in the city. Its small size makes it easy to park, while its fuel economy makes it attractive to buyers. Since 2019, over 90,000 units have been sold in the U.S. alone, over 8,400 of them in 2025 alone. Lexus NX 304 hp (Compact, Versatile) 2026 Lexus NX 450h+ SpecsThe Lexus NX is a compact SUV. With the NX, Lexus was able to appeal to the same market the RAV4 has easily dominated for decades. This model is very commuter-friendly and fits the needs of most SUV buyers. This model quickly flew off the “shelves” of car dealerships, selling 76,836 units in the U.S. The NX is offered in three different powertrain configurations. The NX 350 is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Running on an 8-speed “Direct Shift” automatic transmission and all-wheel drive trivetrain, this engine produces 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The trim above it is the NX 350h, which runs on a self-charging hybrid system. This hybrid system is made up of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with electric motors to produce 240 horsepower. It is available in both front and all-wheel drive. The top-of-the-line trim is the NX 450h+. This trim merges more powerful electric motors with the 2.5-liter engine in the 350h trim and a large 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined, it produces 304 horsepower. The 18.1 kWh battery is capable of travelling up to 37 miles on electric range alone. Lexus GX 349 hp (Off-road Capable Midsize) Lexus 2026 Lexus GX 550 SpecsThe Lexus GX 550 is the brand’s option for blending comfort and off-road versatility. This rugged, body-on-frame SUV has one engine option, like the UX. This 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed "Direct Shift" automatic transmission. It can tow weights of over 9,000 pounds. The four-wheel drive system and a Torsen limited-slip locking center differential give it immense off-road potential. Although it may not be able to rival the off-road capacity of elite competitors like the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the Land Rover Defender, and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ trims of the Lexus GX offer excellent off-road capabilities, enhanced by the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS), which enhances wheel articulation. A 550h is expected sometime in 2026. This vehicle will be powered by a hybrid system. The specs for this version have not been released yet, but going by the specs of the version already on sale in China, it would be expected to run on a 278-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a 54-horsepower electric motor for a combined output of 326 horsepower. The version in China can hit 60 mph in 8.5 seconds. Lexus RX 366 hp (Sporty Hybrid Option) Lexus 2026 Lexus RX 500h SpecsYear after year, the Lexus RX has remained the best-selling Lexus SUV in the Lexus lineup. It is Lexus’s crown jewel. This model is offered in four powertrain configurations. With these configurations, the RX offers both comfort and proper performance. The base model is the RX 350, and it runs on a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 275 horsepower. It is mated with an 8-speed automatic and either a front or an all-wheel drive drivetrain. Above it is the 350h, a hybrid electric vehicle, producing 246 horsepower from its Lexus Hybrid Drive system. This trim is designed for efficiency and not power. The 450h+ trim is a plug-in hybrid version. Its hybrid system produces 304 horsepower and 0-60 mph times of 6.2 seconds. The top-of-the-line trim is the 500h. Its hybrid system produces 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. It has a top speed of 130 mph and accelerates 0–60 mph in 5.9 seconds. This is the F SPORT Performance trim. This trim is a daily driver and a family car that has no problem doing sporty driving. Lexus RZ 402 hp (Electric Performance) Lexus 2026 Lexus RZ 550e SpecsThe Lexus RZ is the only available battery-electric vehicle Lexus currently has in the market. The ES electric version is set to be available in mid-2026. The RZ is a dedicated battery-electric vehicle currently available in two trim levels: the RZ 350e and the RZ 450e, available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive drivetrains, respectively. A third trim, the RZ 550e F Sport, will be available early in 2026 in the United States. The RZ 550e F Sport trim is fitted with two electric motors; a 227-horsepower motor is placed in front, with a less powerful motor in the rear, for a combined power output of 402 horsepower. This trim is capable of a 0–60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds. The RZ 550e F Sport trim uses a 77 kWh battery, but the emphasis on performance from the dual-motor system means it has a range of just 229 miles. The 350e trim runs on a single motor that produces 221 horsepower in a front-wheel drive configuration, and can travel over 300 miles on its 72.8 kWh battery pack. The 450e mid-tier trim adds another electric motor to the rear wheel, for 308 horsepower. This boost in power makes it lose almost 40 miles of range. Lexus TX 404 hp (3-Row, Family Performance) Lexus 2026 Lexus TX 550h+ SpecsThe base TX trim is the 350, which runs on the same engine as the base 350 RX and NX models. It uses either a front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive drivetrain. The next trim is the 500h trim, which runs on the same hybrid system that the top-of-the-line RX 500h runs on. This trim is available with only the all-wheel drive drivetrain. The top-of-the-line TX 550h+ pairs a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine with two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, and an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, this plug-in hybrid system produces 404 horsepower. This system is paired with an eCVT. On battery power only, the TX 550h+ is capable of travelling 33 miles. The TX competes with models like the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the Toyota Grand Highlander, and the Volvo XC90. It is built from the ground up to be a comfortable 3-row SUV, with a third row that has almost as much legroom as the rear of a Volkswagen Golf. It still provides 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. The Lexus TX makes camping off-road with family and friends (not only smaller people or children) possible. Lexus LX 457 hp (Largest, Most Powerful) Lexus 2026 Lexus LX 700h SpecsThe LX is Lexus's flagship full-size luxury SUV, built on the same platform as the Toyota Land Cruiser. The LX is offered in the 600 and 700h trims. The base 600 trim produces more power than the top-of-the-line trims on all other Lexus SUVs. Its 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The 700h trim utilizes Lexus’s self-charging hybrid system, combining the turbocharged engine in the 600 trim with an electric motor and a 1.87 kWh Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery to produce 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. This trim is capable of 0–60 mph times of 6.4 seconds. The electric motor on the 700h provides power in low range mode, which ensures throttle control remains precise for crawling over obstacles. It has a towing capacity of up to 8,000 pounds and a fuel economy of 20 MPG combined. A waterproof 2,400W AC inverter is available, so the vehicle can power external electrical appliances while camping. If the hybrid system fails, Lexus equipped the 700h with a starter and alternator that function as a backup, starting the engine and ensuring it can run independently. The Lexus LX stands in a tightly-packed segment of luxury off-road 3-row SUVs, competing with models like the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Land Rover Range Rover, Lincoln Navigator, Infiniti QX80, BMW X7, and Cadillac Escalade, but it stands out with the bulletproof reliability that Toyota products are known for.
