The 2025 Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Indian automaker’s new small crossover SUV, is about to enter a fierce showroom battle with cut-price rivals including the Chery Tiggo 4 as well as the hot-selling Mazda CX-3. Mahindra thinks it will become its best-selling vehicle in Australia, at least until it rolls out models in new segments in the coming years. Officially on sale from July 4 with an introductory price of $23,490 drive-away until August 31, 2025, the XUV 3XO is Australia’s cheapest SUV and comes in two model grades. Both use the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and six-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive and claimed 6.5L/100km combined fuel economy. The range starts with the XUV 3XO AX5L – to give it its full name – at $23,490 drive-away nationally, with its price from September 2025 increasing to $23,990. Standard equipment across the range includes alloy wheels, LED headlights and front fog lamps, sunroof, keyless entry and engine start, and a surround-view camera with rear parking sensors. Inside, there’s a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There are also 65W USB-C ports for fast charging, while standard dual-zone climate control comes with rear-passenger air vents and is operated by physical buttons, not buried in a touchscreen menu. “Australia is central to Mahindra’s global vision and the launch of the XUV 3XO underscores our commitment to delivering authentic, world-class SUVs that resonate with Australian consumers,” said Mahindra’s head of international operations, Sachin Arolkar. “With its spirited performance, advanced safety features, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional value, the XUV 3XO is poised to make a strong impact and strengthen our presence in Australia.” Pricing Drivetrains and Efficiency There’s a single powertrain on offer. All model grades come with three selectable driving modes – Zip, Zap and Zoom – which change the engine mapping for economical, normal or sports driving styles respectively. Dimensions External dimensions are the same across the XUV 3XO range. Servicing and Warranty The Mahindra XUV 3XO is backed by a seven-year, 150,000-kilometre warranty with seven years of 24/7 roadside assistance. After an initial 12-month/10,000km service, scheduled servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. The XUV 3XO also comes with a capped-price servicing plan, which costs $1994 and covers scheduled services for up to six years or 85,00km (whichever comes first). Individual servicing prices range from $279 to $389. Safety The XUV 3XO has yet to be tested by ANCAP, though the India-market version received a five-star safety rating from Indian safety authority Bharat NCAP based on testing conducted in 2024. Mahindra has said it’s working towards the more stringent ANCAP protocols to be introduced in 2026 for all of its models, including the 3XO, which will need some upgrades in order to be rated at five stars.
