Suzuki usually remains in the shadow of the other three Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. Look carefully, however, and you’ll notice that through history it has launched great products. One of the things that Suzuki motorcycles deliver in spades is durability. The manufacturer doesn’t chase development for the sake of it, instead choosing to update things only when necessary. This might not always make for the most exciting of product portfolios, but it definitely makes it one of the best when it comes to reliable products. Some Suzukis have become legends in their own right because of how indestructible they are. Here then are ten Suzukis known for bulletproof durability. Suzuki DR-Z400S Price: $7,199 SuzukiThe DR-Z400S might be an old design, but under the skin, there is more than meets the eye. On the outside, it looks like an ordinary old motorcycle – halogen bulbs all around, an LCD instrument cluster with orange backlighting, and a rectangular headlamp all feature here. However, the chassis is made out of chromoly steel, the same thing that KTM prefers; the subframe, swingarm, and piston are aluminum, and it might be carbureted, but it has a DOHC head, liquid cooling, and a fan on the left radiator.Suzuki Suzuki DR650S Price: $7,299 SuzukiThe DR650S is quite similar to the DR-Z400S on the surface, but it is even more old-school. The engine is air-cooled and has an SOHC head. This lack of tech is what makes it truly unbreakable. And in the unlikely event that it does break down, repairing it is mostly a DIY job because of the mechanical nature of the beast. There is preload and compression damping adjustment for the rear shock, and you can have a lower DR650S with a dealer-level suspension lowering kit.Suzuki Suzuki SV650 ABS Price: $8,149 SuzukiThe SV650 is a workhorse, but it is also one that is a boatload of fun. It does this by aping the formula that made the Ducati Monster such a wonderful product, right down to the large round headlamp and contrast-color trellis frame! The SV650 is a lot simpler, with ABS the only nod to modernity. This is probably going to change in the near future, however, thanks to tightening emission norms.Suzuki Suzuki Boulevard C50 Price: $9,299 SuzukiThe Boulevard C50 was designed to take on Harley-Davidson, and one can argue that it is better than a Harley in some ways. It has a 45-degree V-twin just like the American manufacturer, but it is liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, and opts for shaft drive for low maintenance. There is some interesting tech in the form of the ‘SDTV’, which puts a second set of electronically controlled throttles in line with the rider-controlled ones, and the rear shock, which is hidden under the seat.Suzuki Cycles Suzuki V-Strom 650XT Price: $9,799 Suzuki GlobalThe V-Strom 650XT is one of the best adventure bikes to buy if you want a no-nonsense workhorse, and you will not be doing much off-tarmac riding. It uses the same engine as the SV650, so you know it will be unbreakable. Added to it are long-travel suspension, tubeless spoke rims, and all-day comfort from the seat. It chooses to use a 19/17-inch wheel rim combination and has an old-school analog/LCD instrument cluster. Like the SV, change seems imminent here.Suzuki Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ Price: $14,399 Suzuki CyclesThe GSX-S1000GT is a serious piece of kit. It has a chassis and driveline derived from an old GSX-R1000, so it handles speed exceptionally well. Suzuki has also mellowed the engine to focus more on torque than outright power, but it hasn’t reduced the power figure by much. Yes, you will need to rev this to get it shifting in earnest, but when you do, you’ll have the widest grin on your face. And it helps that it has ABS, traction control, and a 6.4-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation.Suzuki Cycles Suzuki Boulevard M109R Price: $15,799 SuzukiThe Boulevard M109R is 25 years old, and it hasn’t changed at all in that much time. That might qualify it for a retirement home in automotive terms, but instead, it remains the most powerful cruiser not just in its segment, but up to $20,000. The engine is one of Suzuki’s largest, the rear tire was the widest on a production motorcycle at the time of launch, and it puts a digital rev counter on the handlebars, right in the rider’s line of sight. It makes no bones that it is a performance cruiser, but it is one of the most reliable as well.Suzuki Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE Price: $16,449 SuzukiThe big V-Strom is a throwback motorcycle, using an aluminum twin spar frame. This makes it heavier than its peers, but it also gives it impeccable road manners. It has a V-twin engine with all the modern features like a by-wire throttle, six-axis IMU, cruise control, and a two-way quickshifter. A 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation is present. Weirdly, the 21-inch front spoke rim requires a tube, while the 18-inch rear does not.Suzuki Suzuki GSX-S1000GX+ Price: $18,749 SuzukiThe GSX-S1000GX is the crossover version of the GSX-S1000GT, but it adds a few more features for the extra money. It has electronic suspension and a six-axis IMU. The rest of it is quite similar – chassis and driveline derived from a liter sports bike, a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation, and creature comforts like cruise control and a two-way quickshifter.Suzuki Suzuki Hayabusa Price: $19,499 SuzukiIt might seem odd that a sports bike is on this list, but the Hayabusa is no ordinary sports bike. It rules the dragstrip not just because of how much power it makes, but also because of how reliably it makes that power. This is one of the largest inline four-cylinder engines to go into a production motorcycle, and it gets a full electronics suite. The ‘Busa might not be everyone’s idea of a sports bike, but for those who are fans, its reliability is a much-appreciated bonus.Suzuki CyclesSource: Suzuki Cycles
