'Very Region Specific:' Car Buying Expert Says Honda Is Offering Huge Discounts Right Now. Here’s How To Get One

Want a deal on a new Honda this fall? If your answer is yes, a car-buying expert has some advice.

He says it’s always worth double-checking the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) on the car you’re interested in. He also suggests comparing dealership incentives in your region. A little research might save a lot of money.

How Much Can I Save?

TikToker Tom (@tomislavmikula), whose TikTok bio describes him as a “personal car buying advocate negotiation service,” gets specific. “The Honda deals right now are insane,” he exclaims. The video’s been watched over 114,000 times.

“First off, the Honda HR-V is very region-specific. You might be able to get $1,200, $1,800 off maybe in the Midwest, but if you’re on the coast, I am typically seeing $2,000 to $3,000 off,” he says.

Tom adds one detail, “It doesn’t matter the trim, but I am seeing the higher the trim, the bigger the discount.”

But I Don’t Want an HR-V…

If the 4-cylinders of the Honda HR-V don’t get your engine revved, there are other models to choose from. According to Tom, the CR-V’s price (gas or hybrid) can be negotiated down 7% to 11%.

The Honda Passport market is starting to shift too, he says. “I have seen deals all the way up to 8% or 9%.” He says a very few get upwards of a 10% discount.

Viral bits from across the social media landscape

Our team of experts tracks what's trending so you don't have to—from viral videos to online debates that have everyone talking.

Tom, who says he does over 200 car deals a month, says there will definitely be some dealerships who look at you and say some version of “we can’t hold them on the lot.”

“But I’m telling you,” he says, “look around and you’re gonna find some deals.”

'No Chance'

The comment section got a bit testy after one man said he scored a 2025 Civic Sport hatchback for $23,500.

Not everyone was buying it. “No, you didn’t,” another countered wrote. “I work at a Honda dealer and there is no chance someone discounted a civic $5,000 down to $23,500. You may have put money down to get that price, but they did not sell it for that.”

The two went back and forth, with the purported Honda employee demanding to see an invoice, and the buyer declining. A few skeptical commenters piled on. The buyer kept insisting he only paid $23,500, explaining that he bought a 2025 model, didn’t pay for dealer add-ons, and bought towards the end of the month.

He also said he has an existing relationship with the dealer. “I was told it’s an insane deal and I got it because I’ve [leased] 10 Hondas over the years and it was the end of the month and they wanted to move cars that day. I paid taxes, fees, registration up front,” he said. He added that he has good credit.

Other viewers also traded tips and tricks. Everything from the deals they’ve gotten to opinions on the HR-V itself.

“Just went and test drove the HR-V. not worth what they’re asking. Got a Mazda CX-30 with the lux trim for way cheaper. Had to retire as a Honda girly,” said @hailey.

More Honda Deals and A Word of Caution

The Honda Civic Si and the Civic Type R purportedly typically see a discount between $500 to $2,000.

Tom says one of the best selling cars of all time, the Honda Civic, is getting some deep discounts. “The Civic hatches are harder to get than the Civic sedans. That being said, I am seeing anywhere between 5% to 11% [off]. I’d say typically if you can get 7% to 8%, you’re getting a really good deal on this car, no matter the trim,” says Tom.

Tom warns potential buyers that Honda dealers can be penalized if they list cars over the MSRP. So dealerships may list them without a price. Then when the buyer calls or shows up, they get a quote $5,000 over MSRP, he says.

Overall, if you’re thinking about buying a Honda, now is the time to start doing research. Fortune might favor the bold, but luck shines on the prepared.
