Ravinsihing Red Tutto Rosa Capricorn 01 Is Here!capricorn (capricorn)We’ve seen Capricorns before, most recently at Retromobile in Paris. The latest version of a Capricorn 01 hypercar is this Zagato-bodied one-off called ‘Tutto Rosso.’ It’s a customer commission that will make its official debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Saturday.“The Capricorn 01 Zagato Tutto Rosso, which translates from Italian as ‘all red,’ represents a unique intersection of bespoke design and engineering development,” Capricorn said. “While created in response to a specific customer vision, the vehicle forms part of Capricorn’s ongoing prototype and validation program, ahead of the start of series production later in 2026.”capricorn (capricorn)Historically, this approach was seen on Zagato-bodied competition cars of the 1930s, including interpretations of the Alfa Romeo 6C, where monochromatic red applications amplified both the emotional intensity and the motorsport identity of the car. With the Capricorn 01 Zagato Tutto Rosso, this philosophy is reinterpreted from a modern engineering and materials perspective.capricorn (capricorn)You may remember the Capricorn 01. As we learned in Paris in January, the idea behind the car is not to make the ultimate, fastest, most powerful hypercar ever made; there are plenty of those contenders. The idea with the Capricorn 01 Zagato is to make a car that is simply the most enjoyable to drive.capricorn (capricorn)So rather than being the fastest car on the drag strip, or even around the Nürburgring, the goal of the Capricorn 01 is to return the most joy per driving mile.capricorn (capricorn)AdvertisementAdvertisement“You have to have a smile,” said Robertino Wild, CEO of Capricorn. “I said to the engineers, ‘Don’t build something that knocks out peoples’ teeth.’ This is back to the joy of driving.”capricorn (capricorn)The chassis and Zagato-designed body are carbon fiber, as is much of the interior. Anything that’s not carbon is milled from aerospace-grade aluminum and titanium. There are a few pieces that are 3D printed, but Wild says that with that process “you don’t end up with the quality, and it’s very expensive.”capricorn (capricorn)The double-wishbone pushrod Bilstein suspension offers comfort, sport, and track driving modes. It was designed in-house and tuned on the Nürburgring, not too far from the company’s headquarters in Dusseldorf.capricorn (capricorn)The bespoke, customer-commissioned Capricorn 01 Zagato Tutto Rosso features body, cockpit, components, and materials colored in same rich red hue.capricorn (capricorn)AdvertisementAdvertisementApproximately 95 percent of all visible surfaces are finished in red. Only select technical components, such as the shift gate and pedals, remain in contrasting finishes where functional requirements demand it.This, the third prototype, represents the latest stage of Capricorn’s validation program as the brand accelerates the hand-built, mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive, manual-transmission hypercar toward series production in second half of 2026.capricorn (capricorn)The engine is a supercharged 5.2-liter Ford V8 similar to the powerplant in the Ford Mustang GTD, with a new crank, rods, and pistons. The five-speed manual starts with a dogleg first gear, Wild said, “…like the old days, ‘click, click.” Peak power is 900 hp, which might not knock out any teeth but could sure vibrate some fillings. Peak torque is 738 lb-ft. Zero to 62 mph comes up in “under three seconds” and top speed is 223 mph.capricorn (capricorn)“Projects such as the Capricorn 01 Zagato Tutto Rosso are not driven by styling alone,” said Wild. “They challenge us to rethink how materials, engineering, and aesthetics interact at every level of the car. When a customer approaches us with a vision like this, it becomes an opportunity to push our own capabilities further, not only in terms of design, but in how we industrialize and validate such an extreme configuration as part of our development program.”capricorn (capricorn)
