Toyota recalls 508,000 Camrys over blank dashboard displayToyota is recalling approximately 508,000 vehicles in the U.S. after a dashboard display defect in certain 2025 and 2026 Camry models was found to increase the risk of a crash or injury, the company said.At the center of the recall is a faulty 7-inch combination meter — the instrument display mounted behind the steering wheel — which Toyota says can fail to illuminate when the vehicle is started. When the display fails, it can also deactivate turn signals, hazard lamps, and warning chimes including the seat belt reminder and smart key alert. Toyota said the failure puts affected vehicles out of compliance with applicable federal safety requirements.Toyota dealers will reprogram the faulty software free of cost to vehicle owners. The company said it will notify all owners of affected vehicles by early October 2026. Hyundai recently recalled 96,300 Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years after a software flaw caused instrument panel displays to go dark, also raising crash risk. Hyundai addressed that problem through a software update pushed remotely or through dealers at no cost to owners.
