4×4 FantasyThe DeLorean DMC-12 may be the hero car in the Back to the Future movie franchise, but the films featured other cool classics, one of which is a 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab 4×4, the dream truck of protagonist Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox). Toyota once capitalized on its connection to the film when it recreated the truck using a 2016 Tacoma, which was showcased at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Now, another tribute has emerged, but this time, it isn't an official Toyota special edition, but rather a dealer-built truck based on a 2026 Tacoma TRD Sport i-Force Max. Listed by Longo Toyota of Prosper in Texas, the BTTF tribute mainly adds off-road-oriented modifications resembling the 1985 truck from the movie. The McFly TreatmentThe list of modifications includes a 2.5-inch ReadyLIFT SST lift kit, 33-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Legend MTZ tires, 17×8.5-inch Method 709 wheels, a Fab Fours front bumper, a Go Rhino sport bar, and a Nacho Lighting switch panel. It also consists of six 6-inch KC Daylighter lights, which may be one of the strongest visual cues nodding to the original truck.Other accessories and options on this particular truck include a 14-inch infotainment screen, a bed step, a dash cam, and a black tailgate insert and exhaust tip.As a Tacoma TRD Sport i-Force Max, the tribute truck uses a hybridized 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four powertrain developing 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to a four-wheel-drive system via an 8-speed automatic transmission.Longo Toyota of ProperGreat Scott, $70KIn terms of pricing, the dealer lists $17,334 in dealer-installed accessories, while the truck itself has a Total SRP of $52,941. Its final advertised price is $70,725 before taxes and government fees. At that price point, it may be a little steep for some, especially considering buyers can get the flagship Tacoma TRD Pro for $64,750. But perhaps the dealer is specifically targeting BTTF fans, who may be inspired not only by the wedge-shaped time machine with a flux capacitor but also by McFly's dream truck.Speaking of that truck, the Tacoma didn't arrive until 1995 as a pickup developed specifically for North America. Its predecessor, sold stateside simply as the Toyota Pickup, shared its roots with the global Hilux, with earlier versions finding ways around the 25% Chicken Tax. Today, the Tacoma remains one of the brand's North America-focused nameplates, alongside its larger sibling, the Tundra.Longo Toyota of Proper
