Toyota reserves its hardcore off-road hardware for TRD and Trailhunter trims, but the Woodland name has become its shorthand for mild trail capability on more everyday machines. For 2027, that Woodland treatment lands on the three-row Grand Highlander. What the Woodland addsThe changes are functional rather than extreme. Ground clearance climbs half an inch over the standard Grand Highlander, for a total of 8.5 inches, courtesy of taller springs and all-terrain tires wrapped around matte black 18-inch alloys. LED fog lamps, a tow hitch, and mud shields are all standard, and black finishing covers the badges, roof rails, mirror caps, satellite antenna, and assorted surrounds. None of it is extreme enough to warrant TRD suspension intervention, so treat the Woodland as a lightly rugged take on the Grand Highlander rather than a serious trail weapon.Inside for overlandersThe interior is where the Woodland earns its keep for campers. All-weather floor mats make cleanup after a hike easier. A removable console cooler mounts in the second row and holds six 12-ounce cans, handy for the campsite or a long haul. A 120-volt/1500-watt power outlet sits in the back, with a heated steering wheel up front and pop-up dividers in the cargo tray.Powertrain and efficiencyThe Woodland Editiondraws on the Grand Highlander's hybrid underpinnings, pairing a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with electric assist for 245 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard here. That hybrid sits below the 265-horsepower 2.4-liter turbo gas four and well under the Hybrid Max, a 362-horsepower AWD-only setup. Toyota estimates 34 mpg combined for the Woodland, in line with other AWD hybrids.Pricing and the rest of the lineupOfficially the "2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Woodland AWD," it starts at $53,375 after destination. That slots between the $44,155 non-hybrid LE and the $62,070 Hybrid MAX Platinum. Elsewhere in the 2027 range, the Hybrid MAX Platinum swaps chrome and gunmetal trim for black, the gas Platinum gets a new wheel, and both XLE grades add a heated steering wheel and new dark gray 18-inch wheels. The Nightshade Edition and Hybrid MAX Limited have been dropped.
