Toyota, Honda Run Away With List of Cars Most Likely to Reach 250K Miles, With 2 Notable ExceptionsRoad & TrackEmmet WhiteTue, September 15, 2026 at 4:11 PM UTCAdd us on GoogleThe 20 Longest-Lasting Cars in 2026: ReportToyota / Lexus / RamThe cost of buying a car keeps rising, which means the appeal of keeping one you have for as long as possible is going up, too. But some models are more likely to last the long haul than others iSeeCars's newest dataset claims to have found the best bets for cars, trucks, and SUVs that are most likely to make it at least 250,000 miles, rounding up a list of the longest-lasting vehicles for 2026. Using data from over 395 million cars, iSeeCars analyzed average odometer readings at each year to develop a proprietary model that estimates the probability each vehicle would survive to various mileage thresholds."Reaching 250,000 miles is still far from typical, with the average vehicle having just a 5.4% chance of getting there," said iSeeCars executive analyst Karl Brauer. "But the highest-ranked models have substantially better odds of reaching a quarter million miles, which is a significant difference for consumers interested in long-term ownership."Predictably, Toyota and Lexus models dominate the list, alongside a few Honda models. However, heavy-duty trucks snagged a handful of spots on the list, too. That shouldn't be too surprising, Brauer said, as work trucks are used for highly demanding work and are expected to perform without complaint. There is also one notable outlier on the top 20 list: the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. While Japanese and American manufacturers dominate the ranks, the G-Wagen is the only European car in the top vehicles.AdvertisementAdvertisement(Note: the odds compared to average in each listing below vary slightly based on category; pickup trucks are counted against each other specifically, whereas cars and SUVs are counted against all vehicles as a whole.)1) Toyota SequoiaPhoto credit: Will Sabel CourtneyPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 42.3 percentCompared to Average: 7.9x2) Lexus LSPhoto credit: LexusPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 38.8 percentCompared to Average: 7.2x3) Toyota 4RunnerPhoto credit: ToyotaPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 33.1 percentCompared to Average: 6.2x4) Ram 3500Photo credit: RamAdvertisementAdvertisementPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 31.9 percentCompared to Average: 2.9x5) Lexus RX HybridPhoto credit: LexusPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 28.9 percentCompared to Average: 5.4x6) Toyota TundraPhoto credit: ToyotaPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 28.2 percentCompared to Average: 2.5x7) GMC Sierra 3500 HDPhoto credit: Courtesy GMCPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 26.2 percentCompared to Average: 2.4x8) Toyota TacomaPhoto credit: David BushAdvertisementAdvertisementPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 25.0 percentCompared to Average: 2.2x9) Lexus GXPhoto credit: DW BurnettPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 23.3 percentCompared to Average: 4.3x10) Toyota AvalonPhoto credit: toyotaPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 23.2 percentCompared to Average: 4.3x11) Toyota Highlander HybridPhoto credit: ToyotaPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 20.7 percentCompared to Average: 3.8x12) Honda Accord HybridPhoto credit: Michael SimariAdvertisementAdvertisementPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 18.5 percentCompared to Average: 3.4x13) Honda HR-VPhoto credit: HondaPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 17.6 percentCompared to Average: 3.3x14) Lexus ISPhoto credit: LexusPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 17.5 percentCompared to Average: 3.3x15) Mercedes-Benz G-ClassPhoto credit: DW BurnettPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 17.3 percentCompared to Average: 3.2x16) GMC Sierra 2500HDPhoto credit: GMCAdvertisementAdvertisementPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 17.2 percentCompared to Average: 2.4x17) Ford F-350 Super DutyPhoto credit: FordPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 15.1 percentCompared to Average: 1.4x18) Honda CivicPhoto credit: Zac PalmerPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 15.0 percentCompared to Average: 2.8x19) Ford F-450 Super DutyPhoto credit: FordPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 14.9 percentCompared to Average: 1.4x20) Honda PilotPhoto credit: HondaAdvertisementAdvertisementPercent Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles: 14.3 percentCompared to Average: 2.7xYou Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
