You see, despite not sticking to the GT3 rulebook, the GT Modificata is a race car designed to be sold explicitly to someone who wants to drive a Ferrari race car on track and simply has no intention of lining it up for a race.AdvertisementAdvertisementWithout the weight of the GT3 rulebook holding it down, Ferrari has uncorked the GT Modificata. Power has increased to 720 horsepower—up from around the 600 horsepower mark that the GT3 race car might have on any given race weekend, depending on how the organizer's balance-of-performance shakes out.Along with changes to the powertrain, the GT Modificata adds a second seat, allowing drivers to bring a friend or a coach along for the ride. Pickleball allows doubles too, though so does tennis. Rather than put this clearly tired metaphor to bed, we'll just tell you that the not-for-racing race car also gets new front brake discs and a pair of additional vents to cool them. Ferrari included a handful of aero changes to the setup as well, including a redesigned hood that allows more airflow to cool the more potent engine, a new front splitter, and a sizable rear wing to keep things in check.The 296 isn't the first Ferrari to get the Modificata treatment, with the Le Mans-winning 499 P undergoing a similar transformation back in 2023.
