Eccentrica V-12 Roadster Is a Diablo Resto-ModEccentricaThis coming stretch of August marks Monterey Car Week, an annual excursion for Bugatti owners that is slowly being conquered by restomods. Builds based on air-cooled Porsche from companies like Singer, Gunther Werks, and RUF have long since been joined by cars with stranger origins, including cars that were originally less well-known for refinement. One brand, Eccentrica, has chosen to work with what might be one of the least refined cars ever built: the Lamborghini Diablo.Eccentrica unveiled its fixed-roof V-12 in 2024, and this year, the company is announcing a model based on the Diablo Roadster. Fittingly called the V12 Roadster, Eccentrica says that the model is a "comprehensive re-engineering" of an early Diablo, and is complete with over 3500 unique components designed for the car.EccentricaPower comes from an altered 5.7-liter V-12 producing 550 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, complete with re-designed thermal management and airflow efficiency in addition to ECU changes meant to sharpen up throttle response. The gearbox is still a six-speed gated manual, and top speed reaches a healthy 208 miles per hour even in Roadster form.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe biggest changes come on the outside, where a completely new steel and carbon fiber body evokes the the original car's shape while making room for an even wider track. The chassis is reinforced with carbon fiber beneath the body, part of a suite of performance and comfort upgrades that also includes semi-active dampers, hydraulic power steering, and a modern braking setup.EccentricaEccentrica will unveil the Roadster to the public at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering—the Friday event that has become the biggest single day for new car reveals at Monterey Car Week. Just 19 roadsters are set to be built, and each will be unique to a customer's specifications. The company has not revealed pricing, but it is unlikely to be cheap.See our full photo gallery of the Eccentrica V-12 Roadster here. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
