Source: Teslarati Source: Teslarati Once the headline of seemingly every automotive news outlet across the globe, the landscape-changing Tesla Model S and Model X are both dead, put to rest by Tesla as the company shifts its focus further to robotaxis and human-replicating robots. To commemorate the end of the line for the S and X, Tesla is building 350 Signature Edition cars. 250 will be the Model S Plaid and 100 the Model X Plaid, all of which are available for purchase by invitation only. Sounds a lot like the Roadster that started it all for Tesla. Source: Teslarati Source: Teslarati Fourteen years after production started, Tesla is calling it quits on the Model S. The Model X that followed shortly thereafter, too, is kaput. The world has changed drastically in the time since these cars debuted, and the electric vehicle space has effectively had a full makeover since, and that's to say nothing of the tech that graces today's EVs. Being that the S and X effectively started it all, we can't blame Tesla for wanting to celebrate their contribution to the world of cars. Signature Edition model cars are a no-brainer to end the car's run, though they're mainly special in name and the buyers' ability to show off what they have, more so than actual hardware on the cars themselves. Still, it's cool that the brand is doing a Signature Edition to bookend the first 1,000 Model S units that were all sold as Signature Editions in 2012. 2026 Polestar 4 Arctic Circle Edition: All the Details Source: Teslarati Source: Teslarati Final Signature Editions of the Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid will cost $159,420. That's nearly $35k more than you can get in the door for with a "standard" Plaid version of either vehicle, and for the money, you really only get some appearance bits and "collectibles." Included in the price premium are gold Tesla badges at the front, gold front Plaid badge, gold rear Signature badge, gold piping on the seats (which also have gold Plaid badges), a white Alcantara interior, a numbered dash plate, and door sills that say "Signature." As we said, it's all in the sake of showing off, not actually being a better car. These Signature Edition vehicles do come with the Luxe Package and Signature Edition key fobs, which are neat if you're into that kind of thing. All 350 will be painted in Garnet Red, which is a color exclusive to these vehicles and isn't available on any other Teslas currently in production. Source: Teslarati Source: Teslarati Should you want one, you're probably too late; this isn't a case of trying to get on the list to order a Signature Edition, but rather a manufacturer-specified selection process to vet who they deem worthy of buying one of these last 250 Model S Plaids and 100 Model X Plaids. We can hardly see someone putting one of these in a bubble and selling it at Barrett-Jackson in twenty years, so don't feel bad if you weren't personally invited to buy one. The normal Plaids are just as good. 2026 Dodge Charger R/T: All the Details
