A Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo Hearse? It's RealFacebook / Jason Threadgold Funeral DirectorPorsche enthusiasts are among the most passionate car fans in the world, and in some cases, that passion continues even beyond their time on Earth. For one dying fan in the U.K., that meant he wanted to be driven to his funeral in a Porsche—and a determined funeral director made that final wish come true.As brought to broader attention by The Grimsby Telegraph, Jason Threadgold and his wife Nicola, who run a funeral home in northern Lincolnshire, Great Britain, were recently contacted by a mother who had just lost her son. Before passing away, the young man had made one request: he wanted to travel to the crematorium in a Porsche. Now, while Porsche has certainly expanded their model lineup in recent years to include sedans and SUVs, you won't find a hearse at your local dealership or at a Bring a Trailer auction. However, the Threadgolds weren't about to let that stop them.Porsche Centre Hull supplied a Taycan GTS Sport Turismo as the donor vehicle, but turning it into a hearse required far more than a spacious cargo area. Jason Threadgold spent several days building a custom support frame inside the wagon, while a specialist hearse supplier provided the woodwork; the rollers, and other hardware needed to carry a casket safely were then installed. When the work was complete, the team had created what must be among the world's most unusual Porsches. (It's also almost certainly one of the quickest hearses ever built, thanks to the Taycan's 690-horsepower drivetrain.)AdvertisementAdvertisementThe finished Taycan apparently exceeded the family's expectations; they were reportedly "over the moon" when they saw the completed hearse, and it fit in perfectly with a service that looked more like a Porsche club gathering than a traditional funeral. And as unusual as the concept may sound, it wasn't a one-off request; the Threadgold family says they've received multiple inquiries from Porsche enthusiasts seeking a similar farewell. That growing demand was one of the reasons they invested in the Taycan conversion, and they expect the unique hearse to serve many more families in the years ahead. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
