Image: PolestarThe 13,126 units sold mark the company’s strongest first-quarter performance to date, though not its best quarterly result overall. That record remains with 20,243 vehicles sold in the fourth quarter of 2022. In previous first quarters, Polestar reported sales of 12,006 units in 2023, 6,975 in 2024 and 12,304 in 2025. Since 2022, the company has reported sales figures on a quarterly basis rather than deliveries.Last year, the first quarter was also the weakest period, with significantly higher figures recorded in the subsequent quarters. The strong start to 2026 has therefore left CEO Michael Lohscheller optimistic.“Following a record 2025, we’ve delivered our highest ever first quarter retail sales figure of 13,126 cars,” said Lohscheller. “Growth compared to the first quarter last year totalled 7%, with a strong performance in key markets such as Australia, Germany, Sweden, South Korea and the UK, testament to the hard work of our teams and our established brand position.”Polestar does not provide a breakdown of sales by model or region. Currently, the Geely brand offers the mid-size saloon Polestar 2, the SUV Polestar 3, and the crossover Polestar 4. The Polestar 2, the brand’s first battery-electric model, is nearing the end of its current generation. However, as part of the ‘largest model offensive in [its] history,‘ Polestar will not only launch a successor to the Polestar 2 but also introduce the long-awaited Gran Turismo Polestar 5, an additional body variant of the Polestar 4, and the Polestar 7 as a smaller electric SUV – all within three years. In parallel, the brand is continuing to expand its global footprint, growing its retail network to around 230 locations—an increase of 50 per cent compared to the same quarter last year. Earlier this month, Polestar also restructured its dealer collaboration in Germany, marking the next phase of its network expansion. Even under the previous sales model, performance in the market had been strong, with growth of 57.4 per cent in 2025 followed by a further 50.2 per cent increase in the first quarter.“Our performance in the first quarter has shown resilience, with market conditions becoming more challenging, amid ongoing geopolitical developments,” the Polestar CEO concluded.Looking at Germany in particular, the company stated that the number of Polestar Spaces in the country is set to double over the course of the year. According to Polestar, it will open a total of 30 Polestar Spaces there by 2027.polestar.com
