It goes on sale globally in the fourth quarter of this year; however, none of those sales will happen in the United States, where Polestar is exiting the market over the government's Connected Vehicle rule barring Chinese software and hardware.The front end carries over from the coupe, with pointed headlights and a trapezoidal grille opening in the bumper. The extended roof, however, reshapes the profile into something more conventional and planted. At the rear, the full-width taillight stays, but this version adds an actual glass rear window above it-in contrast, the coupe controversially deleted the rear window entirely, forcing drivers onto the mirrors. The larger gain, however, is cargo volume, rising to about 23 cubic feet behind the rear seats, up from around 19 in the fastback. Fold the seats and the SUV offers 59 cubic feet versus the coupe's 54. Roof rails handle a dynamic load of up to 220 pounds, and the redesigned roof therefore supports larger panoramic glass extending to the tailgate.
