Nissan’s New Skyline Debuts in December With a V6 and ManualAutoblogAnton AndresSat, September 19, 2026 at 11:33 AM UTCAdd us on GoogleAutoblog and Yahoo may earn commission from links in this article.Road to RecoveryAll things considered, Nissan is on the right path to recovery. So far, it's ahead of schedule in its turnaround plans, and while it would've been ideal if things hadn't reached dangerous lows, the brand's actions have had a positive impact. After two years in the red, the Japanese automaker is finally back in the black. The company also has plenty to look forward to. Nissan pulled the covers off the next-generation Rogue and the polygonal all-electric Juke earlier this year. Even more surprising were the teasers for the revived Xterra and the redesigned Skyline. There are many more cars in store, but for the Japanese, the revival of the latter was great news.Nissan/YoutubeCounting Down the DaysIt's been several months since Nissan teased the Skyline (alongside the Xterra) and promised it would be revealed before the end of the year. No exact timeline was given, other than Winter 2026. Speaking to Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, CEO Ivan Espinosa finally revealed the reveal date for the company's premiere sport sedan.AdvertisementAdvertisementHe told the publication the car will debut this December and has dubbed it a symbol of Nissan's recovery. Interestingly, that puts it around the same time as the Nismo Festival, which will be held on December 6, 2026. That's not to say it's the final date, but it's not outside the realm of possibility for the company to show it off there. Given that, we might start seeing more teasers of the car, and maybe a glimpse of its interior and powertrain.Nissan/YoutubeWhat About the Infiniti Model? That's great news and all, but what about the Infiniti version? No one mentioned it during the interview, but it will probably be shown shortly after the Skyline's world premiere. Then again, Nissan could surprise us all by showing off both cars at the same time.Regardless, the new Infiniti sports sedan is coming. We don't know its real name yet, but we wouldn't be surprised if it keeps the Q50 name. Interestingly, reports suggest the car might be offered with a Skyline retrofit kit, giving those who want it a bit of the JDM experience, albeit in left-hand drive.Nissan/YoutubeWhat We Can ExpectWhether it's an all-new platform or a heavily updated chassis of the previous model, we can be sure it'll keep the classic rear-wheel-drive sports sedan layout. V6 power has also been confirmed, along with a manual option. The latter was sorely missing in the previous generation, at least in North America. Europe offered a manual, but only paired with a diesel.AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile the Z and Skyline have been joined at the hip since 2002, that connection got a little muddled with the Q50. By the looks of things, Nissan, and by extension Infiniti, would like the tag of 'four-door Z' for the new-generation Skyline again, and perhaps bring back the magic that was seen in the G35 and G37.This story was originally published by Autoblog on Sep 19, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
