The SUV is positioned as a family-oriented product but integrates features typically associated with higher-end intelligent EVs. Built on the Tianyan Architecture 2.0, the NX8 adopts an 800V silicon carbide platform across both powertrain variants, enabling high charging speeds and improved efficiency. The NX8 previously entered production in China earlier this year, following its initial reveal as a dual-powertrain SUV aimed at accelerating Nissan’s electrification strategy in the local market. Dual power strategy Dongfeng Nissan is offering the NX8 with two distinct electrified options. The battery electric version uses a single-motor setup with outputs of 215 kW or 250 kW, paired with battery packs up to 81 kWh. The CLTC range reaches up to 650 km. Fast charging is a key highlight, with peak power of 463 kW enabling a 10% to 80% charge in 12 minutes. The range-extended version combines a 1.5T engine with a 250 kW electric motor. It delivers up to 310 km of pure-electric range and a combined driving range of 1,450 km. Fuel consumption in charge-depleted mode is listed at 4.51 L/100 km. Intelligent driving and sensor suite The NX8 integrates 29 high-perception sensors, including lidar, supporting advanced driver assistance functions such as highway and urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) and automated parking. The system is powered by a Momenta-based learning model, reflecting the growing trend of partnerships between automakers and Chinese autonomous driving technology firms. Nissan sales in China. The infotainment system runs on Nissan OS 2.0 and is supported by a Qualcomm 8295P chip. Additional features include a 25-speaker audio system (2000W output), a 6.33-litre heating/cooling compartment, and AI-powered voice interaction across four zones. Market positioning With a wheelbase of 2917 mm and a focus on interior flexibility, the NX8 sits between mid-size and full-size SUV segments. Its pricing puts it in direct competition with models such as the Li Auto L6, Aito M6, and XPeng G-series SUVs
