The new vehicle will officially launch on May 15, with test drives available at nationwide stores starting May 1. Exterior and interior Design The Onvo L80 features a commanding front fascia that balances aesthetics with a sense of power. Six body colours are available: Ridge Brown, Morning Silver, Quiet Black, Peak White, Condensed Purple, and an exclusive new colour, “Layered Green,” inspired by the layered mountain ranges of Western Sichuan, combining metallic lustre with a warm pearlescent finish. The vehicle inherits Nio’s signature “watchtower” intelligent assisted driving sensor layout, with all variants equipped with the “small blue light” on the exterior rearview mirrors for high recognizability. Four luxury interior themes are offered: Osmanthus Yellow, Cloud Beige, Night Black, and Moon Brown. The flagship-level wraparound cockpit design incorporates ultra-fibre velvet headlining, floating genuine wood trim panels, and a “Galaxy Illusion” ambient lighting system that encircles the cabin. A four-screen layout is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P chip, featuring a 17.2-inch 3K horizontal central control screen. The exterior of Onvo L80. Seating and comfort Features The seats utilise Nio’s self-developed seating platform with a 13-layer composite comfort structure, including a 15mm soft foam layer combined with high-density rebound material. Both front seats support electric memory adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Additional comfort features include temperature-controlled Nappa leather seats, Onvo Sound premium audio system, intelligent three-zone air conditioning, an 8.8L intelligent fully electric cooling and heating box, and standard quiet electric suction doors with wing-style electric pedals across all variants. Developed on the same platform as the larger L90, the L80 eliminates the third row to dedicate all space to two rows of passengers and storage. The trunk offers a regular capacity of 1,200L — the largest among mass-produced SUVs in China. With the second row fully folded, capacity expands to 2,600L with a depth of 2,200 mm. Combined with a 240L front trunk, total maximum storage reaches 2,840L, exceeding the typical 1,500-1,800L range for vehicles in this segment. The trunk features a dual-sink design with 106L outer and 63L inner compartments, enabling double-layer tri-zone storage. Original factory expansion accessories include a three-person, three-bicycle loading platform, conformal camping set, three-segment conformal bed, and integrated three-segment kitchen set with external power discharge function. A standout feature is the segment-exclusive customised 30L refrigerator in the rear compartment, offering precise temperature control from -18°C to 10°C, with remote intelligent control and continuous power when away from the vehicle. The vehicle offers 53 storage points throughout. The storage space. Intelligent systems Two intelligent systems are available: Coconut and Coconut+. The Coconut system features Nio’s AI-oriented vehicle-wide operating system “SkyOS.” Coconut+ builds with Nio’s self-developed world’s first 5nm automotive-grade intelligent driving chip “Shenji NX9031” and “Nio World Model (NWM).” All variants come standard with 60 full-scenario intelligent safety functions. Powertrain and performance Two powertrain options are available: single motor and dual motor configurations. The single motor version delivers maximum power of 340 kW (456 hp), achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. The dual motor version produces a combined maximum power of 440 kW (590 hp), reaching 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Built on Nio’s NT3.0 platform with 900V high-voltage architecture and 1,200V silicon carbide power modules, the electric drive efficiency reaches 98.2%. Range and charging All Onvo L80 variants are equipped with an 85 kWh battery pack. The single motor version achieves 605 km CLTC pure electric range, while the dual motor version offers 570 km. The vehicle supports 600 kW fast charging, replenishing approximately 250 km of range in 5 minutes. Chassis and weight With a curb weight of 2,250 kg – approximately 300 kg lighter than comparable models in its class – the L80 features the “Wandering Cloud” intelligent chassis with four-domain fusion computing. The 4D full-domain comfort navigation system can pre-adjust air suspension and shock absorbers, while intelligent wet surface control enhances safety on slippery roads. Onvo’s sales performance. As Nio’s more affordable sub-brand, Nio has high expectations for Onvo to drive mass-market volume. The initially launched L60 contributed several thousand units in monthly sales. Following the launch of the Onvo L90 on July 31st last year, the brand saw sales exceed 15,000 units for three consecutive months starting in August, making it the primary driver of the Nio Group’s sales volume prior to the launch of the Nio ES8. However, since entering 2026, Onvo’s sales have begun to shrink; let’s see if the arrival of the L80 can provide a much-needed boost.
