Construction is slated to begin in the second half of this year. Once completed, the facility will house 31 lithium battery testing laboratories, a pilot line for lithium-ion cells, and a battery pack assembly line.According to reports, NIO has maintained a presence in Jiading for over a decade, having established its global mass-production vehicle R&D headquarters in Shanghai's Jiading district. The company has already built a comprehensive R&D and testing network in Jiading, including facilities on Anxiao Road, Taiyun Road, and Anchi Road, as well as at the Innovation Port. Since deliveries began on May 28, the model took just four days to take the top spot in Shanghai's 500,000-yuan BEV segment for the full month of May, capturing more than 50% market share. From January to May 2026, NIO led the city in cumulative sales, emerging as the front-runner across the entire Shanghai passenger vehicle market, regardless of price segment, powertrain, or body style.In June, NIO delivered 40,597 new vehicles—a new high for the year thus far—marking a 62.9% year-on-year increase.
