Right-hand-drive markets are now NIO’s short-term expansion priority. In the 2026 internal letter released earlier by NIO’s CEO Li Bin, he mentioned that in the globalization strategy, the plan is to enter a total of 40 countries and regions worldwide by 2026, with the Firefly brand taking the lead as the pioneer in the overseas expansion. Currently, this plan is steadily progressing. In a recent interview, Chris Chen, the global business head of NIO, revealed that NIO will officially enter Thailand in March this year and launch the right-hand drive version of its Firefly model. It is worth mentioning that Thailand is not the first overseas market for Firefly’s expansion this year. It is reported that the first right-hand drive model of Firefly will debut at the Singapore Motor Show on January 8 and will go on sale locally around the Spring Festival. Meanwhile, Oceania is also part of NIO’s overseas expansion plan. Chris Chen stated that NIO plans to enter the markets of Australia and New Zealand in the second half of the year. This layout aligns closely with the Firefly brand’s global strategy—right-hand drive markets such as the UK, Australia, and New Zealand have become short-term priority expansion regions. NIO’s accelerated overseas expansion is built on a strong market performance foundation. Data shows that in December 2025, NIO delivered 48,135 new vehicles, setting a new monthly delivery record and achieving month-on-month growth for the fifth consecutive month. For the full year of 2025, NIO’s cumulative deliveries reached 326,028 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 46.9%, also refreshing the annual delivery record. According to the plan, NIO will continue to increase its market share across various segments through the differentiated positioning of its main brand NIO, the family-oriented brand Ledao, and the premium compact car brand Firefly, maintaining an annual sales growth rate of 40% to 50%.
