China NEV sales performance in April 2026. In April, SAIC’s new energy vehicle sales reached 142,487 units, ranking second only to BYD. The MG brand contributed significantly to SAIC’s sales volume. This February, MG announced it had become the first Chinese car brand to exceed 1 million sales in Europe. Editor’s comment It’s worth noting that the 510km range version of this car uses a 53.9 kWh liquid-solid battery (also known as a semi-solid-state battery), while the 610km range version uses a 64.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The former is only 70kg lighter than the latter. At least for now, it’s hard to see where the advantage of the liquid-solid battery lies. Interior of the MG 4X.
