Built on SAIC‘s NEV platform, the MG 07 is positioned as a high-tech, dynamic coupe targeting the 150,000 to 200,000 yuan (22,100 to 29,400 USD) price range. The vehicle was first spotted this February and is expected to officially launch within the year. Dynamic coupe design The MG 07 adopts a “fastback” silhouette characterised by a low-slung, wide-body stance. The front fascia features a streamlined design with C-shaped headlights containing multiple LED units and an active intake grille. A notable design highlight is the integrated clamshell hood. From the side, the MG 07 showcases a long wheelbase and short front/rear overhangs. The vehicle is equipped with: Frameless doors Semi-hidden door handles Aerodynamic vents on the fenders Two-tone sport wheels with colored brake callipers The rear of the car features a continuous light strip that integrates with the sloping roofline and panoramic sunroof. MG also introduced a signature “Morello Purple” exterior colour for the debut. Intelligence and hardware The vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR system and will be the first to feature the Momenta R7 “Enhanced World Model” solution. This system is powered by the Momenta X7 self-developed large-model dedicated chip. The MG 07 will offer both pure electric (BEV) and hybrid powertrain options. The specific power output in kW has not yet been fully disclosed. MG’s sales performance in China. The MG brand has been more successful overseas (especially in Europe) than in China, perhaps because people still think of it as a British brand. This February, MG announced it had become the first Chinese car brand to exceed 1 million sales in Europe. In the Chinese market, MG’s sales peaked at 21,402 units last December over the past 12 months. In March this year, it still sold 18,003 units, which is actually a very decent performance in China’s exceptionally competitive market. Official photos of MG 07.
