So far, the reviews abroad have been favorable, and it was even crowned the World Car of the Year for 2026. The praise and accolades just kept coming, and Mercedes-Benz didn't want its longtime rival getting all the attention.Sindelfingen's response was with the electric version of the GLC. Its full name is GLC with EQ Technology, but we'll call it GLC EV moving forward. It made its world premiere back in September 2025 and has been available in Europe for a couple of months now. Like the iX3, initial impressions have been promising, and Mercedes-Benz is determined to make this EV stand out and sell well. Outsell the iX3? That's surely one of the goals.Mercedes-BenzExpanding the LineupIn case you missed it, BMW introduced an entry-level version of the iX3. Dubbed the iX3 40, it's a fair bit more affordable than the 50 models. In response to that, Mercedes-Benz has just rolled out not one but two more lower models for the GLC EV.AdvertisementAdvertisementJoining the GLC 400 4Matic are the GLC 250 and GLC 300 4Matic, giving customers more options over the iX3. With that, the standard GLC EV lineup is complete, though AMG is developing a high-performance derivative of the electric crossover.Mercedes-BenzNumbers You Need to KnowFor the GLC 250, it comes with a single-motor arrangement, meaning it's rear-wheel drive only. Given the lower number, it has the least amount of power with 348 hp and 590 lb-ft. Yes, that's the base model, and I wouldn't call it a slow-poke. Battery capacity is rated at 85 kWh, allowing for a range of up to 404 miles under WLTP guidelines.Moving to the GLC 300 4Matic, it gains a second motor and all-wheel drive. That also gives it more power, bumping the total to 416 hp, while torque remains at 590 lb-ft. Like the GLC 250, this one also comes with an 85 kWh battery, although the WLTP range is lower at 383 miles. Expect that number to be slightly lower once it's been tested by the EPA.Mercedes-BenzComing to America?Mercedes wants to reach an even wider audience for the GLC EV, so it's safe to say that at least one of these models will come to America. As for the exact model, that's a little harder to determine.AdvertisementAdvertisementWe're hedging our bets on the 300 4Matic model for its added power and standard all-wheel drive. Given that BMW doesn't have a model to match it, this could put Mercedes-Benz at an advantage for as long as the price is right. Of course, we won't put it past Mercedes to offer the 250 model to complete the lineup in the U.S.Prices in Germany for the GLC 250 start at €64,736 (around $75,000), while the GLC 300 4Matic has a base price of €68,306 (approx. $78,000). Expect lower prices for the U.S market.Mercedes-BenzThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Jun 10, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
