It hasn't always been plain sailing, and the car's amorphous styling has been criticized, but Mercedes has refined it in recent years, and this year sees a revitalized electrical architecture and more power. There are 450+, 500 4Matic, and 580 4Matic trims with 402, 469, and 576 hp, respectively. The AMG models are reviewed separately.2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580Mercedes-BenzWhat's New for 2027The 2027 EQS Sedan gets a mild exterior and interior refresh, with a reshaped hood, redesigned 3-pointed-star headlights, restyled taillights, improved aero, and new wheel designs. Both the grille and hood ornament can be illuminated, and a grille with illuminated stars in it is part of the AMG Line package. The wheels are 20 inches in size, with a few new designs being added this year; they can be upgraded to 21 or 22 inches. Rear-axle steering is fitted, along with air suspension. The cargo area is accessed by a power liftback, not a trunk lid.2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580Mercedes-BenzView the 3 images of this gallery on the original articleInteriorThe MBUX cabin tech runs MB.OS with a zero-layer menu concept and incorporates a full-width Hyperscreen comprising a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 17.7-inch center touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. It's a luxury cruiser and not a sports sedan, and that's just fine by us, considering that was always the S-Class' main talent.2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS SedanMercedes-BenzCompetitorsBMW i7Lucid AirPorsche TaycanTesla Model SAudi e-tron GTAdvertisementAdvertisementThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Sep 1, 2026, where it first appeared in the Cars section.
