Dextar Vision/UnsplashA man has expressed his disappointment at a dealership after claiming that a simple oil change on his car has gone wrong and left him feeling like he had been set up. Content creator @shittystateofmind2 posted a video on his account recounting the experience, which has had over 200,000 views at the time of writing. The TikTok user claimed that he had just taken his car in for a basic service, and that included an oil change as well. The service appeared to go well, and he was able to drive the car home without any issues, and he assumed everything had gone as planned. However, it appeared that something wasn't right. That led to the content creator creating some conspiracy theories and questioning if he was 'tripping,' having suddenly found the next day that his car would no longer start. Unsurprisingly, he wasn't happy about this problem.AdvertisementAdvertisementYou could argue easily that this was down to bad luck. Cars can go wrong at any time, and it would be a surprise to find out that a simple oil change had in fact prevented a car from starting. But this creator was convinced of this, and things seemed to unravel more after he took the car in for repairs. What the Creator Said Happened to His Car After the Oil ChangeAccording to the TikTok user, everything seemed fine when he took it to the dealership. The oil change was completed, and he was able to drive the car back home again. But when he went to drive it the next day, the creator suddenly found that it wouldn't start. "It is completely dead," he said in the video. That led to him doing some investigative work. After this, the creator said he had worked out that the starter had a problem. So he called his local mechanic, and he agreed to replace the starter on the car for $500. Not long after the car went to the mechanic, he called up the owner. "Hey, who the hell worked on your car last?" he asked on the phone. The customer then told his mechanic it had been to a dealership for a regular service."I can't say for certain, but it looks like somebody unscrewed your starter. And if I can guess, it would probably be the last person who worked on it," the mechanic said on the phone. That left the TikTok user stunned, and he ended the video staring into the camera in silence, looking stunned at what he had just recounted. This led to a lot of debate in the comments section as to what had gone wrong with the car.Did the Dealership Cause a Problem To Get It Fixed?Muhammad Hussain Ali/Unsplash"The dealership is making problems to get paid," said one viewer in the comments. The TikTok viewer and a lot of those who had watched felt that the dealership may have tampered slightly with the car, so it would have to come back and get problems fixed. "This is why I stopped going to the dealership. It just seemed like every time I went, they always managed to 'find' additional things that needed replacing," said another user.AdvertisementAdvertisement"The third-party garage I go to now only fixes what I ask to be fixed, and if they point out anything else, it's because it's an obvious problem; they don't go looking for things," they added. Others, however, were very puzzled. "I'm not a mechanic. But if the starter was disconnected, how did it start at the dealer?" said another user. This Could Have Just Been an Unfortunate AccidentKate Ibragimova/UnsplashOne person speculated that a nut had just been left loose, and after the car drove over some bumps on the way home, the starter cable could have come off. Interestingly, a former dealership employee said on Edmunds that dealers sometimes don't do what's best for the vehicle, which could lead to further problems. Some vehicles need specific care, and this isn't always given by the dealerships. Perhaps then this was just an unfortunate coincidence. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
