Lewis Hamilton has shared a full video of the restoration work undertaken to drive the Ferrari F40 in the paddock during the F1 Italian GP at Monza.Ferrari's Hamilton has never shied away from showing his love for the F40 road car developed by the Italian manufacturer. He had always wanted to own one and earlier in the year, he got one from the 1991 batch, lying in the owner's garage for about 36 years. The dust covering the Ferrari red could be seen from afar as it almost gave it a new colour coating of brownish white. Hamilton did not disclose any details of the previous owner but noted that he/she drove the car only for 69 kilometers, and it has been in the garage ever since."When I joined Ferrari, my first shoot with the team was with this car," said Hamilton in the video. It was… It's just such an iconic car. It's one of the most iconic cars ever. And this car was picked up here in 1991. And the guy drove it 69km and parked in his garage, and it's never started since."Hamilton Tells Finding the Ferrari F40Hamilton was actually looking for a low-mileage F40 with a story and he found one. When the car got into the Maranello factory, the mechanics found an interesting detail, which was a flabbergasting co-incidence. The engine on the car was marked as '44', which is the race number of the Brit.It was indeed a remarkable co-incidence, as they worked on the car to restore it and make it road ready, just before the Italian GP at Monza. Hamilton got to drive it around before making a heroic appearance in the Ferrari F40 on Thursday of the grand prix, to kick-start the weekend in style. He had a photo shoot before the appearance, taking it for a spin around the old bank of Monza. Hamilton brought back the memories of his first photo shoot with Ferrari, when he was announced to join the Italian F1outfit, as he stood alongside a F40 outside the Maranello base.
