I’ve been saying for a year or more now that the Kia EV6 has risen to the top of my list as the new or used vehicle we’d most likely buy next. I love the vehicle, as it seems to be the perfect package in all kinds of ways. I’ve been a bit disappointed to see its sales not matching its worth and competitiveness, but perhaps the pricing was always just a bit high. Now, however, Kia is looking to take things to the next level. The company has just dropped the base price of the Kia EV6 from $42,900 to $37,900! That’s a sweet price cut, and it should definitely help more people notice, consider, and buy the EV6. Yes, we wrote about this price cut a few weeks ago when it was leaked, but now it’s for real. At the time, we wrote that the 2026 Kia EV6 will get a $5,000 to $6,000 price cut compared to the 2025 Kia EV6. Now we see in more detail what that means. Some trims are $5,000 less, some are $5,500 less, and one $5,900 less. Also, while I was headed to the Kia site for another article, I noticed that Car & Driver has given the EV6 a 9.5/10 rating. Nice! That beats the Tesla Model Y’s 9/10 rating, the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s 8.5/10 rating, and the Volkswagen ID.4’s 8.5/10 rating. It does barely lose to its cousin, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, which scored a 10/10. Though, we test drove the EV6 and IONIQ 5 back to back, and we strongly preferred the EV6 for a few reasons. To each their own. I do also love the IONIQ 5. One big question now is how much the price cuts will help move metal and how many units of the Kia EV6 will be sold in coming quarters.
