The Kia EV9 is one of the few three-row electric vehicles on the market. It’s quite large, and the interior and technology are very nice and high quality despite the vehicle being fairly affordable. However, apparently, it hasn’t been cheap enough — until some dealerships recently got aggressive with their discounting in order to move more off the lot. According to Carscoops, a dealership in Texas is providing a $16,041 discount on the EV9 Light RWD, bringing it down from its starting MSRP of $54,900 to a ridiculously competitive $41,414. We’re talking the price of a Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, or Kia Niro EV! The EV9 Light RWD has only 230 miles of range, but that’s really plenty for the vast majority of buyers. And, yes, we’re talking about a large SUV that can seat up to 7 adults! I’m personally not a fan of large vehicles, because I don’t like driving them, don’t feel a need for the extra space, and don’t like large vehicles taking up so much space and using so much energy, but this would be a hard deal to pass up or ignore! There are big discounts on the EV9 elsewhere as well. “At Liberty Auto Plaza in Illinois, an EV Light Short Range has been handed a $15,000 discount, dropping the price from $57,480 to just $42,480,” Autoblog shares. “There’s also a $15k saving on the Light Long Range model, which nets you a more practical 304 miles between charges. This one’s price has been cut from $59,785 to $44,785.” Again, these are ridiculous prices for the large electric SUV. When you consider how much money the EV9 could save you in operational costs compared to a similarly spacious, 7-seat SUV powered by gasoline, the deals are even that much more enticing. If you’ve been thinking about a Kia EV9 for a while, perhaps now is the time to jump! That is also, apparently, what many buyers have concluded this year so far. Sales of the electric model have been up 12% in the first 8 months of 2026 compared January–August of 2025.
