A car finance dealer says a woman’s $102,000 dream Hellcat turned into a nightmare after she learned the dealership added more than $19,000 in warranties without her permission.
TikTok user Ride with Yusuf (@ridewithyusuf) is a car dealer who helps buyers in distress figure their way out of bad deals. In a video, Yusuf is on the phone with the owner of a 2025 Dodge Durango Monkey Hellcat Edition.
In the on-screen text, Yusuf explains the stakes: “How a $102K Hellcat became a $157k nightmare.”
How Did a Dodge Durango Brass Monkey Hellcat Turn Into a Nightmare?
Yusuf received a message from the woman who said she had a bill of sale from the purchase for $67,000 after initially putting $50,000 down. “She pulled up her Bank of America, it shows that now she owes $90,962,” Yusuf explains.
How did this happen? Well, Yusuf takes a closer look at the bill of sale and sees a slew of added warranties, including a LoJack recovery warranty, body protection, a lifetime oil change plan, and a key replacement warranty. The add-ons totaled approximately $19,000.
“This is a finance manager saying this was on the line item when she signed. She swears up and down that she didn’t. So I’m going to give her a call and see what happened,” Yusuf says.
To find out what went wrong, Yusuf calls the woman for more details. She said she called the dealership and spoke to another finance manager who was able to get most of the extra warranties and add-ons removed.

Hellcat Nightmare Turned Car Finance Teachable Moment
The good news is that the woman was able to get some of her money back. Yusuf uses this as an opportunity to ensure she doesn’t make the same mistake twice.
“Here’s the issue, the bill of sale that he’s showing you was a line item that you had to sign,” he says. “Maybe you don’t remember signing it.”
The woman says she doesn’t remember signing for the warranties.
“Just make sure next time you really look at the bill of sale and what you signed for,” Yusuf tells her. “I’m gonna keep it real with you. It sounds like the dealership broke it down. Maybe you were just signing really quickly and didn’t really understand what you were getting yourself into.”
Yusuf recommends she call her bank and the general manager of the dealership to confirm that everything is resolved. He also notes that her monthly payment will likely stay the same and the difference will go to her principal balance. If she is going to return the car, he says, she should do it sooner rather than later because that amount will be prorated to factor in the miles she drives the vehicle.

Viewers React to the Dodge Durango Brass Monkey Hellcat Nightmare
In the comments section, viewers agreed that the buyer got taken for a ride in this deal.
One person joked there’s a reason she spoke to a different finance manager the next day. “That finance manager went to Disney World after he sold that car,” they wrote.
“Someone isn’t telling the truth! I say the buyer got taken for a ride,” said a second person.
A third person actually offered advice. “She needs to find her original papers and call the warranty companies directly to cancel,” they wrote. “Sometimes the dealership will lie and say you can’t cancel some of those warranties because it impacts their commission on the deal.”
Yusuf and the viewers in the comments are correct that it requires a bit of legwork to ensure a warranty you’ve already purchased is canceled. NerdWallet recommends calling the warranty companies directly, acquiring cancellation forms, and getting them signed by a dealership representative.
Motor1 contacted Yusuf via TikTok comment and direct message for comment. We’ll update this if he responds.
