A man is going viral on TikTok after capturing a moment on the road that left him genuinely confused. Bryan Kato (@bryankato4), who says he’s based in Atlanta, filmed himself driving near what appears to be a highway when he noticed something wasn’t right. Cars in the lanes next to him were moving in the opposite direction. "What the [expletive] is going on? What are y’all doing?" Kato says from behind the wheel. As more vehicles pass heading toward him, he starts trying to make sense of it in real time, questioning whether he’s the one who needs to move. "I ain’t never in my 28 years of life seen no [expletive] like this, bro," he said. "Where are y’all coming from, bro?" Despite how chaotic it looked, the cars appeared to be moving slower than typical highway speeds and stayed in the lanes beside him, so there wasn’t an immediate risk of a collision. At one point, someone offscreen tells him to turn around. The video cuts before showing what he does next, but it suggests he may have been the one going the wrong way. As of this writing, the clip has racked up more than 6.8 million views. What Is Going On On This Atlanta Road? What’s happening here looks like a cluster of drivers going the wrong way, not a single mistake. Tell us what you think! View Comments That can happen when traffic backs up, or a road gets blocked, and drivers try to improvise. Instead of waiting or finding a proper turnaround, some people will flip around and head against traffic to get out faster. That seems to be the case in this clip. Based on the traffic signs visible in the TikTok, Kato is moving in the correct direction, while a steady stream of cars comes toward him in the adjacent lanes. It also helps explain why the other vehicles aren’t moving at full speed. Even if drivers are going the wrong way, they tend to slow down once they realize how risky it is or see oncoming traffic. Situations like this aren’t common, but they do happen, especially near exits, frontage roads, or areas where drivers think they can cut around congestion. It’s dangerous, even at lower speeds. Going against traffic creates confusion for everyone on the road and increases the risk of a crash. (One such instance in Lumberton, Texas, was caught on camera.) If you come across something like this, the safest move is to slow down, keep your distance, and, when you get to a safe place, call 911. Let the situation be clear rather than trying to navigate through it. It may look chaotic, but it usually comes down to a few drivers making a bad call and others following their lead. Viewers Can’t Believe People Driving The Wrong Way People in the comments section sounded just as thrown off as Kato, with many trying to make sense of what they were watching in real time. "Them not honking lets me know you not in the wrong," one person said. "‘Might wanna turn around bro’ with no other context is hilarious," another added. "If it wasn’t for the signs pointing your direction, I’d be convinced you’re going [the] wrong way," a third commenter added. Others focused on how they would’ve handled it, with some saying they would have turned around much earlier. "The fact that you had to be told to turn around," one person wrote, adding a string of laughing emojis with it. "Call [the] police and ask what’s happening," another suggested. And some admitted their minds would’ve gone straight to worst-case scenarios. "I would have lost my mind," one person wrote. "I would start crying cause wdym u might wanna turn around," another wrote. "My [expletive] would’ve thought the apocalypse happened," a third person added. "I would absolutely assume the world was ending and turn around," a fourth commenter said. Motor1 has reached out to Kato via a direct message on TikTok.
