A woman living out of her Acura showed the awful aftermath of a tire blowout that occurred while she was making a grocery delivery. TikTok user Kristin (@kuniversebrat) uploaded a clip of herself reacting to the damage immediately after the accident occurred. However, after reviewing her previous videos, several other users on the platform said she didn’t heed clear indicators that her sedan wasn’t fit to drive. The TikToker begins her video with a recording of her car’s blown-out front passenger-side tire. All that remains of it is a slab of rubber beneath an exposed portion of her car’s front bumper that looks like it was torn off. The rim of her Acura sedan is almost entirely exposed, resting naked on the black street pavement. "That was the stupidest idea ever in my whole entire [expletive] life. Look at the wires." As she narrates over her misfortune, she zooms in on her car’s undercarriage. A tangle of severed wires dangles in front of a plastic receptacle, with a cap removed from one of its plugs. To make matters worse, she notes that the grocery delivery order she picked up for a customer has not yet been delivered. Her car’s trunk is filled with so many items that it can’t even close properly. She cries off-camera as she zooms in on her car’s backseat, showing even more groceries. "Look at the tomatoes," she wails as her clip comes to a close. Commenters Blamed Her For The Blown-Out Tire Prior to uploading her grisly tire clip, Kristin published another video of her car’s front passenger tire while it was still somewhat intact. In the clip, she opines that air was emanating from the tire as she shows visible damage to it. A portion of it is collapsed inward, clearly deflated. Additionally, she shows that her other tires aren’t in much better shape. They are visibly worn down with little tread on them, and her rear passenger-side tire seems to be deflated, too. Tell us what you think! View Comments "This explains the blown tire vid I just saw," one person penned, referring to Kristin’s other post. In another video, she explains that her front passenger tire blew out while she was driving. "I didn’t crash," she says. "I had a flat tire [and] I drove on my flat tire. … You didn’t see it, but it was really bad." She says that when the rubber of her tire came apart, it whipped around and caused the damage to her bumper. Despite the harm caused to her vehicle as a result of the blowout, she says that her car was still drivable. In an update, she thanked viewers who saw her video for donations, which she used to purchase a new set of tires. She showed off her ride on TikTok, noting that while the wires dangling in front of her vehicle’s passenger-side tire were still exposed, her car was running. She also equipped the car with a new steel wheel, replacing the rim that scraped against the pavement. To highlight her car’s drivability, she recorded herself filling it with gasoline, starting it, and driving away in yet another post. Folks who responded to this video recommended that she zip-tie the wires to prevent them from being hit by debris or sustaining further damage. Moreover, other users suggested that she use tape or another fastening method to ensure her right-side headlight doesn’t come undone. Kristin also mentioned that the blowout wrecked the sedan’s blinker light, so she doesn’t have turn signal functionality on her car’s right side. What Causes Tire Blowouts? According to warranty coverage company Endurance, there are six primary reasons why a vehicle’s shoes will explode while driving. Low tire pressure is one of the main causes. And as the business explains, this deflation will cause spillover onto the sides of the tires, causing them to "make contact with the road surface." Since a tire’s sides are thinner than where the tread is, they wear down much more quickly. Thousands of tire rotations on the pavement break down the tire, resulting in a blowout. As Kristin demonstrated in one of her videos, this is a likely culprit for her blowout, as the sides of at least one of her tires were jutting out from the wheel. Additionally, road debris and small punctures left unaddressed over time can contribute to a blowout. So can uneven tire tread, which is why regular rotations are so important to ensuring tread distribution is maintained. If drivers don’t promptly rotate their vehicle’s tires, it can worsen tread breakdown in certain areas. This means that a portion of the tire will inevitably wear down faster, increasing the likelihood of punctures and bursts while in transit. Overloading a vehicle past its payload can also result in a tire blowout. Before loading your ride with heavy items, be sure to refer to its user manual to ensure you’re not pushing it past its limits. Furthermore, replacing any old or defective tires with new units that match your car’s specifications can minimize your risk of a blowout. Always be sure to double-check the appropriate tire size for your vehicle and purchase them from a reputable manufacturer. Also, get the right tire for the climate you’re driving in. I.e., if you live in an area that experiences heavy snowfall, replacing them with dedicated snow tires can go a long way toward extending the lifespan of your other tires and help keep your car on the road.
