A Boston-based owner of a 2017 Ford Edge was notified about a recall for leaky brake hoses in September last year, but he ended up paying over $1,800 out of his own pocket for the remedy. This was because the American manufacturer had still not issued a fix for the recall, leaving owners responsible for repairs in the meantime.Ford has issued many recalls in the last year, but this particular recall of 497,624 units of the 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX for the rupture of the flexible brake hoses has yet to be addressed.According to a video posted on YouTube by WCVB Channel 5 Boston, Massachusetts resident Paul Lonergan, who was aware of the recall, said he discovered brake fluid leaking from the rear brake hose of his 2017 Ford Edge. As a result, he visited the authorized dealership for repairs, but Lonergan was informed that Ford had not announced a remedy for the issue yet.AdvertisementAdvertisementThat meant he was left with no choice but to pay to repair a problem that Ford had already acknowledged but had not yet provided a remedy for. Lonergan ended up paying $1,854.43 for repairs, but he was clearly disappointed with the entire experience.yellow bmw m 3 parked on gray concrete road during daytimeIf you think Ford would reimburse Lonergan for the repair, there is no guarantee he will be repaid because Ford has not yet made the remedy parts available. What bothered Lonergan the most was that Ford told him he could be paid for the repairs "potentially," leading him to wonder how many other such owners of the Ford Edge must have been affected by the brake hose problem and had to pay for the repairs themselves. He said:"I don't have 1,800 to loan to a billion-dollar corporation. It just irks me that I may not get my money back."Ford reportedly planned to roll out a fix for the leaking brake hose problem in April this year, but that has been delayed by a few months. A Ford spokesperson told the media outlet that the fix is not expected to be available until at least September.Related: Ford's Recall Is Serious Enough That Maverick and Bronco Sport Owners Are Being Told to Park Their Vehicles
