A limited edition from the boys in Borgo Panigale is the 2026 Ducati Formula Sport 73. Paying homage to the 1973 750 Super Sport Desmo, the Formula Sport 73 will come in a limited production run of 873 units, worldwide. The original 750 Super Sport Desmo Super Sport was a replica of the 750 Imola Desmo with which Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari triumphed in the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola. The first European competition for production-derived motorcycles, it evolved in the 1980s into Formula 750, which would into the modern World Superbike class know today. The Formula Sport 73 takes the Scrambler Cafe Racer as its underpinning, adding a model specific cafe racer front fairing. Finished in silver and aqua green livery, the Formula Sport 73 recalls the original “green frame” racing replica. The vertical gold stripe on the tank echoes the original unpainted strip on the 750 Imola Desmo, which allowed the team to check the fuel level without needing to use a fuel gauge. Racing style components are supplied by Rizoma, with brake and clutch levers with oil reservoirs, footpegs and fuel cap. Ducati’s air-cooled Desmodue V-twin is the heart of the Formula Sport 73, displacing 803 cc ad Euro 5+ compliant. Producing 73 horsepower at 8,250 rpm, the Formula Sport 73 comes complete with modern riding electronics – DTC traction control, Cornering ABS, the Ducati Quick Shift system and two Riding Modes.
