2027 Charger Super Bee Dials the I-6 Up to 600 HPStellantisIt's no secret that the Dodge Charger is in a bit of a sales slump, with the muscle machine coming in near or at the top of the ranks of the slowest-selling cars in the United States on any given month. 2026 year marks the 60th anniversary of that legendary nameplate, however, and Dodge isn't one to let milestones pass by. Just in time for this year's installment of the annual Roadkill Nights festivities, Dodge has unveiled the 2027 Charger Sixpack Super Bee—the most powerful internal combustion-powered version of the current-generation muscle car yet.The Super Bee nameplate has a long history with Dodge, having been first introduced on the Coronet back in 1968 before arriving on the Charger in 1971. This particular Super Bee leans into its high-powered heritage with select revisions to the High Output Hurricane inline-six found under the hood. Dodge has fitted the engine with larger 58-mm Garrett turbochargers, which flow 7.5 percent more air than the outgoing units; the new snails are bolstered by modifications to the intake system, charge-air path, and intercooler, ensuring the 3.0-liter straight-six can breathe a bit better.StellantisThanks to all that plus a reworked exhaust and a new engine calibration, this Super Bee-specific engine setup is good for 600 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. Nearly the entire cooling system has also been revised, to help keep all of that power available on the drag strip or road course. A Torqueflite 880RE eight-speed automatic backs up the motor, tying it to all four wheels; Dodge says the setup helps push the Super Bee from a stop to 60 miles an hour in just 3.6 seconds. Keep your foot planted, and the automaker says you'll run the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds. The Super Bee also picks up two new drive modes, Drag and Track, with unique calibrations aimed at maximizing performance in either scenario.AdvertisementAdvertisementIn order to make best use of its added horsepower, the Super Bee also receives bespoke chassis enhancements. The suspension setup sees front spring rates increase by 12 percent and rear spring rates by 6 percent, while front tension-link bushing stiffness increases by 25 percent and front handling-link bushing stiffness jumps by 50 percent. The rear stabilizer bar is also stiffened by 20 percent for good measure. Dodge says that these tweaks should both improve steering response and limit understeer on the track.StellantisThe rear star of the suspension setup are the new Continuous Damping Control (CDC) dual-valve adaptive dampers that replace the passive units on lesser Chargers. All four corners of the car are also supported by 20-by-11-inch wheels wrapped in 305/35ZR20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 summer tires. Behind those wheels sit massive 16-inch Brembo brake rotors, with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston units out back. These massive stoppers provide 27 percent more brake pad area than before, ensuring the muscle car has plenty of bite in the braking zones. Dodge also says that brake fade resistance is twice that of the defunct SRT Charger models.StellantisOther highlights include the reworked fascias that provide better cooling and aero benefits, bespoke cloth seats with unique high bolsters, and the all-new Drive Experience Recorder (DxR) that's made by Cosworth. The latter is similar to General Motors's Performance Data Recorder, and should be a nice addition to anyone looking to hone their track skills. (It will also surely transform the world of takeover content on social media.)StellantisEvery 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee will come in the Launch Edition spec. That means customers will be fairly limited on their order sheet, with only three exterior hues to choose from: Sucker Punch Shady, and Diamond Black. Like any special edition Mopar, the car is also festooned with model-specific graphics and badging, which does bring a bit of an old-school vibe.AdvertisementAdvertisementUnfortunately, Dodge isn't quite ready to share pricing information with us at this time, but it seems likely to carry a premium over the $61,985 starting price of the regular Charger Sixpack Scat Pack Plus. That said, whatever the change in cost, it'll be interesting to see if these sorts of enhancements are able to win over customers accustomed to V-8 power even with only six cylinders under the hood. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
