Dodge Charger EV Sales Q3 2026Sales of the world's first and only electric muscle car dropped nearly 90% compared to last year. The Dodge Charger Daytona electric muscle car is looking like a sales flop this year.Dodge sold fewer than 800 units so far this year, a steep drop compared to last year.Meanwhile, the recently introduced gas version is picking up the slack. The Dodge Charger Daytona EV is gearing up for a disastrous year. The battery-powered Charger sold just 767 units from January through September, a massive 89% drop compared to the same period last year, when the American automaker managed to find 7,057 new customers for the world's first and only electric muscle car.To make matters worse, Dodge moved just 233 electric Chargers in the third quarter, revealing that customers have pretty much had enough of the admittedly cool-looking EV. Since debuting in late 2024, the dual-motor Charger racked up 8,242 cumulative sales in the United States. Last year, the EV had its best year, selling 7,421 units.Dodge Charger Daytona Tesla SuperchargerIt's a bleak picture for what was supposed to be a headline-making machine, but one that ultimately ended up causing headaches for customers and dealers alike. Software gremlins took center stage when we tested the Daytona EV, and when contributor Andrew Lambrecht decided to lease a 2025 Charger EV for a great price, he didn't see much of his car after paying the first round of invoices. The car didn't move an inch for over two months while it was undergoing repairs, and Dodge eventually bought the car back from Andrew six months after he signed the lease documents. Not a great look.On paper, the Dodge Charger Daytona looks pretty good. It's powered by a dual-motor setup that's good for 630 horsepower, with an additional 40 hp that can be added for 10 seconds when the PowerShot feature is enabled. It looks good and has the unique Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, which makes it sound like it has a big, stomping V-8 engine under the hood. That may or may not be up everyone's alley, but it's a cool take on the external sound systems that all the other EV makers have been trying to figure out in the last couple of years. The 2027 model comes with a NACS charging port from the factory, but the 94-kilowatt-hour (usable) battery pack is the same as before. Charging from 20% to 80% takes roughly 24 minutes, and the estimated driving range with a full battery is 267 miles. These aren't record-setting numbers by any stretch of the imagination, but they're adequate. However, with the 2027 model, Dodge upped the pricing significantly, adding $12,500 on top of last year's already hard-to-digest $61,990, bringing the total to $74,490 (including destination charges).Meanwhile, the entry-level gas Dodge Charger, which is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six gas engine, starts at $51,990. More expensive versions are also available, but they still cost less than the EV, though it's worth noting that the Daytona remains the most powerful of the lineup. All this being said, it's no surprise that the gas-powered model handily outsold the EV in the third quarter, with 8,023 units reaching new customers in the U.S.More Dodge Charger EV StoriesThis Dodge Charger EV Prototype Packs An Experimental Semi-Solid-State BatteryThe 2027 Dodge Charger EV Gets A Tesla NACS Charging PortEdmunds Is 'Sick' Of The Dodge Charger Daytona EV's ProblemsOur Dodge Charger Daytona EV Charging Test Did Not Go Well
