BMW says power is sent to the rear wheels during normal driving, with the front axle brought in only when extra traction is needed. Unlike the rear-drive M2, the xDrive model will not be offered with a six-speed manual. It comes exclusively with BMW's eight-speed automatic.The added traction improves acceleration. BMW claims the M2 xDrive reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, three-tenths quicker than the rear-drive version. The run to 124 mph takes 12.5 seconds.
