The BMW E30 3-Series has become a tuner's favorite of late. The boxy BMW icon is a perfect basis for engine swaps and various tunes. But a garage in Long Beach has created possibly the wildest E30 ever, pretty much recreating everything about the car aside from the basic shape. This example of BMW's '80s classic is now a monster twin-turbo V8, with more power than a Bugatti Veyron. Oh, and it's got a trick gearbox too. This BMW Is Bespoke From The Ground Up Autotopia LA/ YouTube When P2 Fabrication were tasked with creating the ultimate BMW E30, they didn't do things by halves. The company had a C7 tube chassis that was fitted with a V10, and that was the inspiration for the E30 build. The BMW body was set on the chassis table where the crew set the desired ride height, before building a chassis within the body as tight as possible. The body was then taken off, and the chassis was powder coated. Then came the fun part: getting a powertrain to do this wild build justice. This Small Bimmer Now Has A Mindblowing V8 Autotopia LA/ YouTube It was decided that the powerplant would be a V8. But rather than sourcing a V8 from a 5-Series, the team fitted an LS7. Not content to leave it there, twin turbochargers were fitted, resulting in an output of 1,200 - waaay more than a mid 2000s Bugatti Veyron which makes do with 1,001 horsepower. The engine was pushed back as far as possible for better weight distribution. This motor was then paired with a sequential gearbox. An outlandish LTO bodykit designed by Kyza was fitted to the standard E30 body, with wild fenders that make it around 7 in wider front and rear than a stock car. Cool features cover the E30, from the wild rear wing that looks like it's been pinched from a Formula 1 car, to the side exit exhausts behind the rear wheels. Stopping power is provided by huge Wilwood brakes. This E30 Drives As Wild As It Looks On the road, this small BMW is as wild as you might expect. The BMW rumbles like an old school muscle car, complete with the kinds of whirs, clunks, and whines that you would normally hear in a full-blown race machine. Autotopia's presenter Shawn Davis says: "Wow, these sounds are wild. It's so mechanical sounding, the straight cut gears, the rear end banging, it's so mechanical. This thing's evil dude, it sounds crazy.' It might not be one for the E30 purists, but this car shows just how far you can take the small BMW.
