Audi's all-muscle Nuvolari supercar is reported to manage 0-100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds and expected to launch next year. Audi AG/dpaAudi has unveiled a high-powered supercar that could be on the roads next year.Called the Nuvolari, it draws its name from Tazio Nuvolari, an Italian racer known for his "fearlessness, ingenuity, dedication, and a single-minded will to succeed," according to Audi.Arriving as the brand's first hybrid supercar, the Nuvolari blends together a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 with three electric motors and a compact battery for a combined output of 987 hp, making it the most powerful production vehicle that Audi has ever made.AdvertisementAdvertisementWith that engine setup, the Nuvolari will manage 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and will even reach 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The engine will also rev to 10,000 rpm, a level which Audi says has been "previously reserved for motorsports."As with nearly all performance Audi models, the Nuvolari comes equipped with quattro all-wheel-drive. However, this version uses "predictive" technology, allowing it to anticipate a loss of grip and tweak the system to correct it. This is done through the management of the separate electric motors. It's all set within a lightweight spaceframe with a carbon fibre exterior, while motorsport-inspired centre-lock wheels are used for the first time in an Audi production vehicle. Active aerodynamics also help the Nuvolari to adapt to different driving situations, with a deployable rear wing one of the key features that allows the car to tweak its downforce levels while in motion.Inside, there's a cabin which is focused around the driver with all key functions directly within the driver's field of view. The main screens also use colours which are a 'nod to the legendary Auto Union Type C' racer, according to Audi, while lightweight carbon fibre seats help reduce weight while still bringing plenty of support. The Nuvolari is expected to launch fully next year with an extremely limited run of cars. In Germany, the supercar is expected to be available from €600,000.
