That is exactly what happened to TikTok user India (@indiaawillie) after she bought a used Tacoma. In a video that has been viewed over five million times, the fashion influencer said she recently discovered her Tacoma came with a detachable Bluetooth speaker. This is the removable JBL Flex speaker that was introduced with the 2024 Tacoma as part of its redesign.Fun little perks like this make buying cars that bit more enjoyable. Being detachable, the speaker can be used in the house as well, or simply stored away from the car. So we can only imagine the shock on India's face when she realized that the speaker wasn't there.AdvertisementAdvertisementUnfortunately, she discovered one of the pitfalls when it came to buying used cars. Other TikTok users replied in the comments recounting similar situations, where they had bought a used car from a dealership or online, and it was missing a feature that, as new, it was advertised as coming with. What India Found With Her Toyota Tacoma Pickup Truck"Guys, I just found out that my Tacoma—because I bought it used—comes with a speaker," India said as she opened her TikTok video. From new, her particular 2024 Tacoma would have come with a removable JBL Flex speaker. This was only available on pickup trucks equipped with the JBL audio upgrade packages offered by Toyota and the sound company.India climbed into the truck in the video and then suddenly found that the speaker wasn't in the spot in the center of the dashboard where it usually is found. In this spot, the speaker acts as part of the truck's sound system. But a push of a button allows the owner to detach it and carry it around with them as a Bluetooth speaker to use in the house, outside in the garden, wherever the owner wants to.In this instance, the speaker was no more. It quickly dawned on India that it was gone due to the previous owner removing it from the Toyota and keeping it. "Whoever had this truck before took it," India said. "And that's okay," she added. She was slightly gutted to have missed out on it, but she understood that the owner doesn't need to resell the speaker with the vehicle. It is removable for a reason. This Is a Pitfall of Buying a Used VehicleImage Credit: @indiaawillie/TikTokIndia did discover, however, that she could get a new speaker. As India found out and as others commented, Toyota does offer new speakers but for an extra $310. Whether India buys this or not is down to whether she really wanted the speaker, but it appeared from the video that she didn't realize it should have had it until after she bought the Tacoma.AdvertisementAdvertisementHer story does highlight a used car pitfall, however, as do some commentators on her video. Certain features and extras in some cars may be removed by their previous owners or go missing over time. A fellow TikTokker said they bought a Honda CRV used, and it didn't come with the rear table it should have. What Features Could Be Missing From a Used Car?A Reddit user from the UK recently posted how a used car they purchased, a 2015 Seat Leon, lacked optional extras that it was advertised as having. In this instance, the car lacked a Seat sound system, convenience pack, and safety pack, which included a side airbag for the rear passenger. This gives you some idea as to what could be missing in some cars if they are bought second-hand. Always check before you buy the car if these are features you really want to have.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
