First Look 2027 Corolla Hatchback Gets New TechToyotaThe Toyota Corolla Hatchback might not be the tiny rocket ship that the GR Corolla is,but it still does its best to retain a fun-to-drive character within the hatchback segment. For 2027, the Toyota hatch gets new technology and displays that tie its youthful spirit to the modern connectivity buyers are looking for. When drivers first hop into the 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, they'll notice two new digital cluster options depending on the grade. The SE gets a standard 7.0-inch digital cluster with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while the XSE gains a 12.3-inch digital dash and a 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment screen. SE buyers can also get that combination through the optional Premium Package, which adds $800 to the trim's $26,075 base number. Even then, it remains $2,295 cheaper than the XSE's$29,170 asking price. The 2027 Corolla Hatchback also arrives in new colors: Inked, Blueprint, and Blueprint with a black roof. The first two cost nothing extra, but Blueprint with a black roof adds $500. That brings the Corolla Hatchback's total to 13 exterior color choices, including five with a black roof option.toyotaFor buyers looking to stand out, Toyota will offer the 2027 Corolla Hatchback with the 18-inch gloss-white wheels that were used on the 2026 FX trim as a Toyota Genuine accessory. Because they aren't factory-installed, they require a set of 225/40R18 tires. That makes the upgrade a bit more expensive for SE owners, since the standard tire size is 205/55R16, but XSE owners can simply have their dealer swap over the factorytires because they already meet the size requirement. A full set of the FX-inspired wheels costs $1,495, and tire installation is not included.AdvertisementAdvertisementBeyond those additions, the 2027 Corolla Hatchback carries over unchanged from 2026. That means it still uses a 2.0-liter I-4 making 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, paired with what Toyota bills as its Direct Shift continuously variable transmission. Power goes exclusively to the front wheels, and there is still no hybrid option. And it could really use some electrification. The extra power would be welcome for drivers trying to get up to speed quickly from an on-ramp. In our last test of the Corolla FX with the same engine and transmission, it needed 8.3 seconds to reach 60 mph. Although that car was also riding on Yokohama Avid GTs, the standard hatchback shouldn't be much slower. It should still beat the Kia K4's 9.1-second run and stay ahead of the Civic's 9.6-second sprint to 60 mph.Inside, other than the new tech, the 2027 Corolla Hatchback also keeps its standard interior equipment from 2026, including a six-way-adjustable driver's seat and a four-way-adjustable front passenger seat upholstered in cloth on the SE. The XSE gets an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and both front seats are heated and trimmed in SofTex. Buyers also get a five-year trial of Toyota Connected Services, including Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect, along with a 30-day/3 GB trial for Wi-Fi Connect. The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is expected to reach dealer lots soon. Details on the 2027 Corolla Sedan will come later, according to Toyota.TrimMSRPDiff from 2026Corolla Hatchback SE$26,075$700Corolla Hatchback XSE$29,170$8002027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback PricingPhoto credit: toyotaPhoto credit: toyotaPhoto credit: toyotaPhoto credit: toyotaAdvertisementAdvertisementPhoto credit: toyotaPhoto credit: toyotaPhoto credit: toyota
