Still, the M5's considerable weight can't always be disguised. It can feel unsettled over rough pavement and push into understeer near the limit. Some of its test numbers are worse than the lighter previous generation. Steering feedback also feels somewhat artificial, and the abundance of drive mode settings is excessive. In most driving situations, though, the M5 is seriously entertaining and impressive. The cabin is luxurious and packed with technology. In Touring wagon form, the M5 gains genuine utility and enthusiast credentials. This M5 might not be the car every BMW purist wants. Even so, its blend of speed, refinement, everyday usability, and EV driving potential makes it a deeply capable all-rounder.Top-Ranked Competitors:Porsche Panamera GTSMercedes-AMG E53Lucid Air Grand TouringAudi RS6 AvantIs the New BMW M5 a Hybrid? In the 2027 M5, BMW pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission.
