2026 Ram Ramcharger Specs Revealed: Is This The Electric Truck You'll Really Want?

Electric trucks have one key drawback: towing kills the range. Either you have a cheaper truck that concedes it can’t tow long distances like the Ford F-150 Lightning or insert a massive battery pack that drives the price up to nearly $100,000 like the Chevy Silverado EV. Ram is attempting to solve that conundrum with the 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, arriving later this year.

The 1500 Ramcharger is an EREV that will pair a 92 kWh battery pack with a 3.6-liter V6 generator in reserve to power the electric motors. It should deliver everyday driving completely under battery power while providing a massive range for towing and road trips. Ram confirmed some of the final Ram 1500 Ramcharger specs, and the truck sounds formidable.

Discussion
Do you think canceling the long-range Ram 1500 REV is a mistake?

Ram could have been the range leader in the world of electric pickups. The long-range battery in the Ram 1500 REV was estimated to bring 500 miles of driving range, which would have easily bested any other electric pickup, and all but one other EV on the market (the Lucid Air). With Ram canceling the big battery, customers can either choose between the 350-mile standard battery or the range-extended Ramcharger … or a competitor. Do you think that was a blunder, or will it work out just fine for Ram’s bottom line?

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger Delivers A Ton Of All-Electric Range

Ram Ramcharger

Ram confirmed the 1500 Ramcharger's all-electric range at 145 miles with its 92 kWh battery pack (69.7 kWh usable). That’s not the most efficient use of batteries in an electric vehicle—barely over two miles per kWh. But it’s enough electric range to factor in all but the most extreme everyday driving without the gas generator kicking in. The total combined range for the Ram 1500 Ramcharger factoring in the fuel tank is 690 miles. That would mean roughly 26 MPG draining the gas tank and the battery and around 20 MPG with the gas generator engaged.

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger Is Built to Tow And Haul

Ram

The final towing specs for the Ram 1500 Ramcharger are impressive. The towing capacity is 14,000 pounds, well north of the 11,550 pounds available in the combustion 1500. Its 2,600-pound payload is also higher than the combustion 1500’s top offering of 2,370 pounds with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6. The Ramcharger also keeps a substantial 22.3 kWh in reserve for towing. Ram confirmed to InsideEVs that the buffer allows the truck to avoid a power loss that would occur if the battery was lowered below 10 percent.

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger Weighs Over 7,500 Pounds

Ram

You would expect the Ram 1500 Ramcharger — packing both a large battery pack and a V-6 engine — to be heavy, and it is. Ram confirmed a curb weight of 7,507 pounds. For perspective, that’s more than 1,000 pounds heavier than the dearly departed Ram 1500 TRX. Compared to full EV trucks, it’s more than 1,000 pounds heavier than the Ford F-150 Lighting XLT, but it’s still much lighter than the GMC Hummer EV SUT, with a curb weight of 9,063 pounds. The final power numbers for the Ram 1500 Ramcharger are less than initially stated; it packs a combined 647 horses and 610 pound-feet of torque. But, that’s still enough oomph to rocket the heavy truck from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

TopSpeed's Take

Ram

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is treading into uncharted territory. It may be an innovative harbinger for the pickup truck’s electrified future. It could also be a truck that recalcitrant Ram buyers — perhaps still miffed about the absence of the Hemi V-8 — avoid on principle.

The capability should appeal on paper. Price should not be a limiting factor. Ram hasn’t revealed the final number yet. But, according to Axios, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis floated a potential starting price of $69,995. That sounds pricey, though the average transaction price for a full-size truck hovers around $65,000. If Ram nails the driving dynamics and delivers its typical luxury, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger could be a very compelling option if buyers give it a fair shot.
