It's an electric executive fastback to challenge sportier versions of the BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE-Class as well as the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air.Although a cramped cabin and trunk hold the E-Tron GT back, it's a ferocious performer. Sleek styling and formidable powertrains make it a tempting alternative to the related Porsche Taycan. What's NewAll-wheel steering comes standardBlack exterior accents now the defaultRS E-Tron GT Performance gets larger wheelsNew red accent optionsCovered under Audi's three-year/30,000-mile complimentary maintenance programWhat We ThinkWhen the E-Tron GT arrived in 2022, we didn't quite understand it. It didn't have the power, range, or refinement to match rivals, and the Porsche Taycan was a stronger performer.AdvertisementAdvertisementAudi righted most of its wrongs in 2025 with a comprehensive model refresh. The E-Tron GT's performance and range now make it a worthy competitor in the increasingly crowded ring of electric luxury sedans. An active air suspension and four-wheel steering (newly standard for 2026) help the E-Tron GT feel nimble in the corners. It's certainly no slouch in a straight line—the base trim is blazing fast, and the RS model is among the quickest cars on the road.Best of all, the E-Tron GT feels just as refined as any other Audi when you ease off the throttle. We're big fans of the car's design language, both inside and out. Unfortunately, the E-Tron GT's cabin is also one of its biggest weaknesses. The second row is cramped for taller passengers, and trunk space is poor.AdvertisementAdvertisementFrom behind the wheel, those flaws are easy to forgive. Audi has turned the E-Tron GT into a real contender, and the competition should watch their backs.Top-Ranked Competitors:Porsche TaycanBMW i5Mercedes-Benz EQE-ClassLucid AirMotorTrend TestedLast year's refresh gave the E-Tron GT a significant power bump along with a larger 97-kWh battery pack. Every model uses a dual-motor setup to send power to all four wheels. The base S E-Tron GT makes 670 hp. In our testing, a model with the previous powertrain (which topped out at 522 hp) went from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds. Audi claims the power boost drops that time to 3.3 seconds, and we're inclined to believe it.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe RS E-Tron GT is, as Audi is fond of repeating, the most powerful production vehicle the brand has ever made. With the boost engaged, the powertrain generates an astonishing 912 hp—only 107 shy of the utterly bonkers Taycan Turbo GT.When we tested one, the Audi rocketed to 60 mph in only 2.2 seconds. Very, very few cars on the road can best the RS E-Tron GT in a straight line.MPGs and RangeThe 2025 refresh significantly improved the E-Tron GT's range, but it wasn't great to begin with. It now falls somewhere in the middle. With 20-inch wheels, the S E-Tron GT will go up to 300 miles between charges. That's on par with a BMW i5 or Mercedes-Benz EQE, though it pales in comparison to the Lucid Air. 21-inch wheels drop expected range to 294 miles.AdvertisementAdvertisementFor 2026, the RS E-Tron GT is only available with those 21-inch rims. Its driving range is the worst of the lineup at 278 miles.Fortunately, charging has improved across the board. At a public fast charger, Audi claims the E-Tron GT can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. That's very quick and should make road trips a bit easier.Safety Ratings and FeaturesIn a refreshing change from some of its gas-powered sedans, Audi makes all of its best safety features standard in the E-Tron GT. That includes:Automatic emergency brakingLane keeping assistAdaptive cruise controlBlind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alertRemote parking assistAutomatic high-beamsCargo Space and Interior RoomThe E-Tron GT is best appreciated from the front seat. The second row is small for the class, and trunk space is abysmal. The car does have a small frunk, but at 1.8 cubic feet, it doesn't help much.AdvertisementAdvertisementFocus more on the Audi's bold design and driving dynamics to maximize the E-Tron GT's appeal.TechnologyInfotainmentInfotainment in the E-Tron GT runs through a central 10.1-inch touchscreen. The driver gets a matching 12.3-inch digital display, and a head-up display is available in the Prestige trim (or standard on RS models).Other standard goodies include:Navigation360-degree cameraVoice recognitionWi-Fi hotspot (subscription trial)Sound System16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audioValueStandard FeaturesThe 2026 E-Tron GT is kitted out well even in base trim. Standard features include:Adaptive air suspensionHeated front sport seatsPanoramic glass roofLeatherette seatingCarbon-fiber inlaysRecommended TrimThe base S E-Tron model is available in two trims: Premium Plus and Prestige. Upgrading to the Prestige model brings fancier LED headlights, a head-up display, a few interior accents, and a glass roof that turns opaque at the touch of a button. The RS E-Tron GT gets all of those features standard and adds a few exclusive performance perks like carbide brakes.Much as we love the berserk RS model, we think most drivers will find plenty of excitement in the base S trim. Thanks in part to its comprehensive kit of safety tech, the S E-Tron GT offers a good value compared to gas-powered super-sedans like the S8. It compares even more favorably against the Porsche Taycan GTS, which is only slightly more powerful but costs over $25,000 more.
