A man is going viral on TikTok after sharing a prank he pulled on his dad, one that some viewers initially read as mean-spirited before he posted the full context. Kiefer Bondsy (@kieferbondsy), who lives in Illinois, says he spotted his dad's car at County Market and decided to mess with him by parking too close, hoping to catch his dad's reaction. After people online accused him of bullying an older man, Bondsy uploaded a longer clip showing what actually happened. "FULL VIDEO! Thanks to everyone for playing along. More to come from my old man! Have a great day and remember to smile!" Bondsy wrote in the video's on-screen caption. As of this writing, it had drawn more than 27,600 views. What Happened in the Illinois County Market Parking Lot? In the nearly two-minute clip, Bondsy films himself from inside his car and explains that he had run into his dad at the store and saw an opportunity for a harmless joke. He then records his dad loading groceries into the trunk before attempting to get back into the driver's seat. Because Bondsy had parked so close, his dad struggled to open the door enough to climb inside. The video lingers on the moment as Bondsy quietly films the attempt. "When you run into your old man at the store and park too close cuz you know he won't recognize your car!" Bondsy captioned the clip. Eventually, Bondsy rolls down his window and reveals himself. His dad makes another attempt to open the door, then realizes what's going on. Once the prank clicks, the tension quickly dissolves, and his dad breaks into laughter, ending the moment on a lighter note. The Dangers of Parking Too Close to Another Car In most cases, such as Bondsy's, where you're pulling a prank, parking too close to another car isn't a big deal. But if you don't know who you're parking next to, doing this can turn a routine errand into an unnecessary headache—and sometimes lead to one of the cars getting damaged, or worse, a confrontation neither side signed up for. If you park your car too close to another person intentionally, that can make your vehicle an easy target for door dings when someone tries to force their way in. And if you're blocking a driveway or hydrant, or creating a safety issue, you could also face a ticket or have your car towed. For the driver stuck next to you, the options aren't great either. If the car is within the lines, it's usually just an inconvenience for another driver that requires patience or a creative exit, as Bondsy's dad attempted. But trying to muscle a door open can backfire fast. If you dent the other car in the process, you're generally on the hook for the damage, even if they parked poorly. That's why the most straightforward fix is prevention—in other words, leaving enough space for car doors to open, especially in tight lots. A few extra steps now can save you from scratches or an awkward situation later. Viewers Accuse Driver of Intentionally Causing Trouble Before Bondsy added context explaining that the man in the video was his father—and that the tight parking job was a prank—many viewers took the clip at face value and didn't like what they saw. Some accused him of targeting an older man just to stir the pot. "Stop messing with old people," one commenter scolded beneath the original post. "I don't care if they park too close to you. I always give a pass to an older person. Wouldn't want someone to treat my mother, father, or grandmother like that if they park too close, maybe they don't realize it. Grow up." Others echoed that sentiment. "This is so sad," another viewer said, calling the man a "poor guy." Someone else chimed in that he "looks just as confused as us." One person went further, accusing Bondsy of engineering the whole situation: "Nope. Think u parked this close on purpose, or moved ur car closer to his. No way he would get out." Once Bondsy posted a follow-up, making it clear the man was his dad, the tone shifted quickly. With the added context, some viewers said the prank landed differently—and better. "Visual proof that context means everything," one commenter wrote on the updated video. "Well played." Another admitted the moment looked tense, adding, "You had him STRESSED." Others focused on Bondsy's dad himself. "That's your dad? Respectful of the car next to him without knowing it was yours? What a great guy!" one viewer remarked.
