Our friend Alex Dykes over at Auto Buyers Guide typically posts videos where he is in front of the camera with a new car. But this is a very different video where the only person in frame is a furious driver who just went for one hell of a ride. The clip, recently shared on social media, comes from a camera on Dykes' property. But instead of catching the usual foxes and deer in the woods, his security camera caught a Honda Fit hurtling off the road, rolling over twice, and landing on its wheels. The driver was apparently uninjured, as the video shows an angry man climbing out from behind the wheel. But it's what happens next that really makes this crash video something special. Despite skidding and rolling, the plucky little Honda isn't dead. The Ultimate Crash Safety Test Auto Buyers Guide What's truly incredible about this crash is that the roof didn't cave in, particularly given the speed the car came off the road at. We get a remarkably clear picture of all the pillars, and they look pretty darned straight considering what just happened. Darkness almost certainly conceals some damage though, and we bet that roof doesn't look too pretty in daylight. It looks like the first roll didn't touch the roof, but the second certainly took the weight – albeit not much. Lest we forget, the Fit is a subcompact city car. It's hard to say with absolute certainty, but it looks like a first- or possibly a second-generation Honda Fit, which would weigh somewhere between 2,200 and 2,500 pounds. For reference, a current Honda Civic weighs around 3,000 pounds. No matter which generation the Fit is, the driver's reaction is wholly relatable. He is clearly incredibly angry with himself, so much that he makes nearly as much commotion as his car did sliding off the road.Upon reflection, we hope he realized how incredibly lucky he was. Not only did the car hold up through its rollovers, but it didn't hit a tree. Aside from those standing, the area looked riddled with branches or perhaps other trees recently felled. Surviving The Crash, Driving Away Honda After seeing something like that, nobody would reasonably expect a normal car to drive away. Not only has the body been hit, but the suspension has taken abuse it was never designed for. If there's nothing bent behind the wheels, we would be truly shocked. But here's where the video gets really good. The car is still running, and when the driver gets back inside we're shocked to see it move. He's trying to drive it back to the road. That is... easier said than done. It takes some digging out, and the route to salvation is blocked in places by logs and branches. But despite being soft ground and the Fit being just front-wheel-drive, the driver guides it through the pitfalls and back to the road. It doesn't sound awesome on camera driving away, but drive away it does. Unbelievable. We have no idea what caused the crash, but there's a noticeable pop at the beginning of the clip just before the car veers out of control. Nor do we have any knowledge of the driver or what his condition was, both before and after the incident. But we're left with a pretty positive impression of the minisule Fit – nearly as much as the impression it left in the ground. Stay safe out there, everyone.Source: Auto Buyers Guide / YouTube
