Jay Leno's Garage/YouTubeAutomotive enthusiast and comedian Jay Leno has showcased a piece of automotive joy after he recently had President Joe Biden stop by his garage, with his beautiful 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Arguably the most famous Stingray in America, as it is a car the 46th President of the United States has owned from new. This 1967 muscle car is a bit of a time capsule, and it marked the final year of the epic C2 Corvette before the C3 made its debut in 1968. With a roaring V8 under the hood providing plenty of power, Biden has always loved driving the car, and he can finally do so again now he is no longer the U.S. President. The car also has an amazing story behind it, thanks to Biden's late wife, Neilia Hunter Biden. That ensures that there is a deep emotional connection between the former President and the car, one that goes far beyond having just owned it since it was new.AdvertisementAdvertisementAs well as a good look around the car, Biden and Leno also headed out for a drive in it, so the former chat show host could get a feel for the car and what it is like to drive. This could be the coolest car that Leno has ever showcased on his YouTube channel. The Emotional Connection Between Biden and the CorvetteIn August 1967, Biden was due to marry his late wife, Neilia, while at the time his father, Joseph Biden Sr., managed a Chevrolet dealership in Delaware. Just before the wedding, Biden's father asked the coupe to drop their daily drivers off for some routine maintenance. These cars were a 1965 Pontiac Tempest belonging to Neilia and Biden's 1963 Chevrolet. When they went back to pick them up, Biden and Neilia had a surprise waiting for them. "The whole staff from the entire organization pulled aside, and this Corvette was sitting there," said Biden. His dad then told him that the car was his wedding gift, which astounded both Biden and his fiancée. At the time, the car cost Biden's dad $5,700, which was paid off in monthly installments.Biden has owned the car ever since. Sons Hunter and the late Beau Biden also pooled together one Christmas to rebuild the engine, to ensure the car could keep running for decades to come. While he was a serving President, Biden wasn't able to drive the car, and that hasn't changed, as he is forbidden from driving on public roads without Secret Service escort. Despite not being able to drive the car as much as he wanted, Biden never wanted to sell it, and he never will either. What Is the 1967 Corvette Like To Drive?Jay Leno's Garage/YouTubeLeno was lucky enough to have a drive of the car, with the former U.S. President sitting alongside him. You can tell that a former U.S. President is in the car, as in the background you can see the Secret Service security detail following the two of them.AdvertisementAdvertisementDuring the drive, the two men just chat and enjoy themselves with the Corvette purring away in the background. Biden recounted how the first car he owned was a 1954 Studebaker, which he said was "ugly as hell," yet it was still a car he had a soft spot for, thanks to its massive V8 engine. Following the loss of his wife and infant daughter in a 1972 car crash, Biden famously chose to commute via train daily from Delaware to Washington, D.C., and he averaged 298 miles a day on railroads for 36 years. This Was Just Two Friends Enjoying a Drive TogetherJay Leno's Garage/YouTubeAside from the story behind the car, the video is heartwarming as we watch the two drive around LA and head off to get some ice cream together too. It is slightly amusing to see the Secret Service escort behind the Corvette in every shot. In the end, it just became a great video of two friends reminiscing about the good old days and enjoying driving a stunning Corvette. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
