VinFast is introducing a new vehicle access program for transport and ride-hailing drivers in Indonesia and the Philippines, adding a rental option alongside its existing vehicle purchase model. The program allows drivers to rent vehicles from VinFast’s Green lineup through authorized dealerships in both markets. It comes as fuel costs remain volatile, offering drivers an alternative with lower upfront expenses. Under the rental scheme, drivers can begin operating without purchasing a vehicle outright. The structure includes a low initial deposit, long-term contracts, and fixed daily rates. Pricing starts at IDR 312,500 in Indonesia and PHP 1,000 in the Philippines, enabling drivers to enter service with limited capital. VinFast is also continuing to offer financing for those who prefer ownership. These packages are designed for commercial use, with reduced initial payments and repayment schedules aligned with expected driver income. The program focuses on VinFast’s Green vehicle lineup, including the Herio Green and Limo Green models. These are designed for frequent use in transport services, with an emphasis on durability, efficiency, and passenger comfort across different operating needs. Initial deployment will cover major urban centers such as Greater Jakarta and Metro Manila, with expansion planned as operations scale. Drivers and fleet operators will also have access to VinFast’s regional charging network, including free charging at V-Green stations through March 2029, helping reduce operating costs. Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Automotive Sales at VinFast, said: “Expanding access to electric vehicles in Indonesia and the Philippines represents VinFast’s next logical step in advancing the green transition of the commercial transport sector, which plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development goals. This initiative not only provides drivers with a stable source of income, but also contributes to improved quality of life and lower emissions. It underscores VinFast’s commitment to supporting driver communities as they transition toward more sustainable livelihoods.” The rollout is part of a broader regional push by Vingroup, VinFast’s parent company, which is also introducing incentives such as its Trade Gas for Electric program and promotional discounts for electric ride services in Indonesia. Together, these efforts are aimed at expanding electric vehicle use in the transport sector while improving cost efficiency for drivers.
