Deliveries of buses approved for US use are expected to begin in Q1 2028. The Vietnamese EV maker announced the plan at the APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago. It signed an initial agreement with NexMove, a joint venture between passenger transportation company Transportation Management Services and commercial EV charging provider Zeem Solutions. For transit agencies and fleet operators, the appeal is having one provider handle the buses and the services needed to keep them running. NexMove plans to offer a service agreement promising 97% uptime. VinFast says around 2,000 of its electric buses already operate in Vietnam. Its buses feature LFP batteries, fast charging, and camera and radar driver alerts, but the announcement doesn’t specify US models, range, prices, or charging speeds. Those vehicles won’t have US approval yet. The partners also aim to develop US manufacturing that meets Federal Transit Administration requirements, although no location or production schedule was announced. Paul Gioupis, Founder and CEO of Zeem Solutions and cofounder of NexMove, said: In late July, our team visited VinFast’s manufacturing operations and was impressed by the number of buses in daily service and by the scale and quality of production. This is a proven product with real operating history. We look forward to working with VinFast toward US manufacturing that meets Federal Transit Administration requirements, so public transit agencies can put these buses to work.
