A man from Texas was eager to test his Tesla Cybertruck’s ‘wade mode’ in Grapevine Lake, but little did he know that his act would get him arrested in no time. A video on Instagram shows how the Cybertruck got stuck in the lake after wading through the water for a few meters. We petrolheads (and batteryheads) often have the urge to test our toys to see what they’re capable of. However, things ended badly for the Cybertruck driver after his truck got stuck in the lake. The Cybertruck’s wade mode allows drivers to pass through shallow water by raising its air suspension. It also pressurizes the battery pack to protect internal components.AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile the idea of wading through the lake could sound adventurous, one must be aware of local laws regarding water mobility because it could get them arrested.Futuristic electric truck driving on a rural roadThe Instagram post by Fox 4 News reveals how police officers were dispatched to the Katie’s Woods boat ramp at Grapevine Lake on Monday, where they spotted the Cybertruck. The owner, whose name has not been revealed, told the officers that he drove into the lake to test the wade mode on his truck. However, in doing so, the truck got stuck, making it nearly impossible to get it back onto the shore without external assistance.Eventually, the driver and the passengers were brought safely to the shore before the Grapevine Fire Department’s water rescue team extracted the truck with the help of a crane.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe driver reportedly violated several water safety regulations. He was arrested for operating a vehicle in closed park/lake area, and for not having a boat registration. In addition, he breached water safety equipment laws.Footage shows the Cybertruck doing a decent job of wading through water at first. However, the scene shifts to the truck being stuck and tilted to the left. Occupants are seen exiting the truck, which eventually gets lifted onto the shore by a crane.Even if local laws permit vehicles to wade through water, the footage is a good reminder to carry equipment that can help extract a stuck vehicle. It would be even better to have a backup vehicle that can winch or tow the stuck vehicle and save yourself from facing an embarrassing situation. That would definitely be better than someone telling you, “you can’t park there, sir.”
